Hi all!

well, I\'m not used to post on the forums, but few days ago I\'ve posted a new sculpt, and I\'m seeing that the rating is not the best, this is not what cares me, but I\'m curious to know what the people think of why this rating is low.May be simply people don\'t like the sculpt, anyway the effort is done, I think is something to consider (not the decisive thing when voting). I\'m agree that the unfinished leg is a quite strange idea...and not everyone would like the idea of course, I will be very thankful if you could tell me your opinion about this sculpt, may be I can improve something for the future.

my english is not the best, so if you don\'t understand at all the idea of the leg, I\'ll be glad on explaining to you.

Of course feel free to vote and comment the sculpt

Thanks a lot

I like it - looks like marble. Already saw it over at Wyrd.

I reckon it\'s a bit too \'neutral\' for folks around here, and the lower legs look unfinished. It\'d make a great \'dolly\' for numpties like me to ruin with GS!

:D
Didn\'t realise it was 90mm at first. Something to emphasise scale would be good.

I saw that too, but wasn\'t sure what to think. Anatomically, it is extremely good, you certainly have a good eye for sculpting.

yes agree...a bit neutral...just a naked man for anatomy practice. the first complete naked body I made (bit proud of it:D jeje) for the next...the naked lady, jeje :p(actually started it)

mmm about the legs and the scale..I think I must repost the sculpt with better views, and with something to emphasise the scale.i must say, the finished leg has detail. ;)

thanks :)

Well you already know what I think and to be honest I think above 8 is OK given the style of the figure.
I think to help the score you would have to go more mainstream and \"finish\" the unsculpted leg, put some clothing on him (maybe just a toga ) and sculpt something over the metal wire in his hands.
But that wasn\'t the point of you sculpting him in the first place.

mmm while sculpting it I thought on dressing him...but if did that I should hide anatomic parts, and finally I wanted completely naked, to have some \"real body\", there are no many sculpts totally naked and I wanted to have one as an anatomic example...the girl is going to be more interesting, better pose, better \"background\"..:D as for the leg...yes..quite strange...I understand why people don\'t like

I think that as much as most of us like looking at naked women, we dislike looking at naked men. (not speaking for you women out there ;)).

I think you\'ll see probably -.5 average in voting just because of this, while it should balance with a +.5 for your female. Just a guess.

Combined with the slight artistic freedoms you took which probably also don\'t completely appeal to this audience, I think the current score is understandable.

Also a 8+ for a sculpt is VERY good really, much better than a 8+ for a paint job in my opinion

Personally I gave it a 9, while the technique is VERY good, it doesn\'t have the same wow factor of some of your other work

@spacemunkie- starkers???

@ericj- jajaj I really tought about that too...I thought I was a paranoid...hope I have at least the +5 on voting of the women of cmon:D.

i\'m agree, of what you say of the audience, cmon is a miniature website, and people wants to see fantasy/sci-fi figures painted or sculpted...understable and logical, that way I understand why the rating is around 8, I was thinking as a sculptor, more than a miniature fan, as a sculptor, if you can sculpt a naked body correctly(male or female), you can sculpt nearly you want, because in a naked body there are no cheats, all must work, no fabrics to cover mistakes, just muscles and skin.

independently of the rating, I\'m proud of it, and glad to see people like my work :) which is very important.

you should be proud of this one, it\'s probably the sculpt of yours I\'d bet was the by far the most difficult to pull off well and you did just that.

How does that make him a good dolly though? We\'d have to re-sculpt the leg before adding other stuff.

starkers = naked

I think it\'s a fantastic sculpt.

To me the \"unfinished\" leg actually looks too finished to get the effect of emerging from clay. Without reading your description, it looks more like you just stopped sculpting it than it looks like it is emerging from clay. My gut feel is that to get the impression you want the clay needs to be above knee height and the lump of clay he is emerging from needs to be bigger.

And I think Eric is underestimating the positive boost to score from a naked female :)

@dammekkos- I did him as an anatomy practice,,, but yes..if one day I decide using him as a dolly...I must re-sculpt the leg.

@kmdl1066- yesterday speaking with a friend arrived to the same conclusion..exaggerate the clay for better emerging effect, I\'m now thinking how I\'m going to do it, because the sculpey can\'t be overbaked and I want the sculpt in that color if its posible, because as spacemunkie said, looks like marble and reminds me to the clasical sculptures:)

thanks for taking the time to write your opinion

I gave it a nine, I like the fact that you did it as anatomy practice and it has produced a very good anatomical figure, top drawer stuff if you ask me.

@Edgar........if you add to the unfinished leg I think it should be sharp edge like a block of marble would be.
Also if you use polymer clay again I think if you cover as much of the baked sculpt with aluminium/tin foil and bake at a lower temperature for slightly longer the original should be OK.

Yes....doing something like this is a LOT harder than fully clothed figures.

Not bad, not bad.... Very good in fact.

Does he come with a phone number?
