posting other people\'s minis

I agree totally, but....

I think there is also room for serious collectors to post minis they own, provided they are not already represented on the site and provided appropriate credit is given. It would be a crime for a great mini to languish in someone\'s collection only looked at by the owner.

I\'m usually a lurker, but I think this topic is more than worth a post. I have posted pics of minis that weren\'t mine, but they were posted simply to feature them since they were on ebay. They were all clearly noted that they were painted by a friend, and at the conclusion of the auctions they were removed. It would seem that nobody really had a problem with this since I didn\'t hear a thing about it and the minis all sold well. That being said, I do have a problem with posting pics of other people\'s minis without their consent, and I agree that people who post minis that aren\'t theirs (and leave them up for longer than the duration of an ebay auction) should be excluded from the rankings.

As for people entering minis they didn\'t paint into contests...that\'s just lame. I have not had that happen to me, but one of my armies that I sold did win best painted in a rogue trader tourney, which I thought was cool when the buyer told me. As that was a tournament and not a painting contest, I wasn\'t mad...especially as he did not take credit for my work.

Summary: Post your own pics (with the notable exception of ebay sales and then they better be deleted when the auction closes!!!) and don\'t enter stuff you didn\'t paint into contests.

Ok, I think I ended up giving my dollar fifty instead of two cents! :bouncy:

Welcome to the forums Scottdsp748

I hope you become a regular contributor:D
Your name is familiar, which it shouldn\'t be as this is your first post. Perhaps we have come across each other on eBay?

Thanks for the welcome...I\'m sure this has broken the seal and I will lurk no longer! :flip: As for my name being familiar...I post a fair amount of minis here and I comment on minis fairly regularly. I sell on ebay under the name MemnochTS1 (scottdsp748 is my e-mail account name though). Well, I\'m going to get back to painting my dirz halberdier <my first ever confrontation mini!>.

Scott, I concede your point. CMON is supported by Ebay auctions, so posting something as you discribe is fine. :D
