RA Salvatore is getting ready to release a comic based on the Homeland books of th dark elf trilogy. Here is a sample of the artwork:

Also, in October his newest book will be hitting the shelves. Promise of the Witch King. I dont have alot of information on it, but from the cover, it looks to be another drizzt story.

I\'m going to need a drool pail for these two!

The book is from a new sellswords series started from the existing Servants of the Shard. The Promise is the second book in that series and it follows Jarlaxle and Artemis Entreri. More info here

If you are going to GenCon you might look for the comic book at the Devils Due Booth they have info on it here

I have no real knowledge of the Homeland books so I\'m sure the script to this could be very exciting, but boy, that art is absolutely repugnant. This is a fan effort right?

Sorry to be a wet blanket........but, it\'s sad to see artwork being done digitally. It\'s not horrible but it looses a human touch. Kinda like a drum machine as opposed to a person. Computers infuse a type of perfection at the cost of some of the artistic soul.:(

They should cut a deal with McFarlane, his artwork would\'ve been amazing doing drow. Then they could of gotten Werner Klocke or Chaz Eliott to do some sculpts...

ooops... I think I just wet myself.... :(

lol;)lol

I guess I should say that I’m basing my comment on all five pages on the site, not just the one shown here. For me there is way too much focus on digital colouring and texture techniques and far too little on form, flow, pacing, mood, penmanship, character individuality etc.

The odd panel may be quite pretty in isolation but that’s not what a comic is about. The artist, and quite possibly the author too, has an awful lot to learn about how to frame action and tell a story with pictures. There is no pacing to it, no narrative spark. The pages all feel totally hollow and static. I know dialogue may add a little to it but that can’t hide the lack of visual dynamism behind the action. The framing is also totally shoddy in many places. It’s all just so amateur looking when you compare it to the vast majority of comics out there, even rather average ones.

Perhaps Mr Seeley should have spent less time reading Photoshop manuals and more time studying the work and essays of masters of the art.

Still, if you folks like it that’s fine. I am pretty into comics and have read up on comic scripting and art a lot (stuff by Eisner, Moore, Miller etc) and I guess I’m judging what I see on a very different scale to many others here.

As for digital colouring, I think it’s great when done to enhance a solid core of other elements, but when the basics are missing from the art the final product just ends up looking like stills from a bad cartoon.

Do you mean Moebius? God I\'ve been so pedantic today. perhaps it\'s the heat bringing it out.

But yeah, Giraud has created some absolutely beautiful stuff.

I used to be a HUGE comic collector, so I would have to say I\'m \'into\' comics too.

I\'ll probably pick this up because -

#1 it\'s based on Salvatore\'s work and I\'d like to see how closely it follows the books
#2 It would still make an excellent reference for painting minis. I love the flesh tones on those drow.

And besides, it\'s a comic book that ties in to our little hobby, so more power to them.

I have to agree that human generated art is far superior, but everything has its place.
