Rant! Women vs. My minis

Okay, so I\'ve been reading with some interest, not thinking much of it till now...
My ex-girlfriend destroyed far too much when I flew 6000 miles to see her, and she spent the entire 3 weeks with her back turned towards me whilst busying herself with her hobby. Now I doubt that many people are as callous and as selfish not to realise what\'s going on behind them. It\'s respect for each other, not necessarily respect for each other\'s hobbies.

Ok, you guys (and girls) are all funny, this thread has turned very silly
@ShawnRL I actually moved not long ago to the south bay, so I\'m a little further now, but my sister is in Petaluma, so I\'m in that area a bunch. I also know DennisMech is in the north bay as well, I think at some point I may have to take a trip to visit some SF bay cmon\'ers.
On the girl front, it turns out there was actually a lot of animosity towards the bit of recognition that the maiden was getting. She is an artist as well (music and theatre), and in her areas it\'s all about grabbing attention and praise and is very competitive. Anyway, the fact she couldn\'t just be happy for me is another reason I think all this is ultimately good. I knew it was not a time thing, she was always more busy than I, and when she was free, I always made sure to give her that time.
Anyway, I think the ogre tyrant will be my girl replacement for a while, I\'m really excited about this project! (no one take that literally)

I think it comes with the territory. If you look at sitcoms and pop culture in general, everyone equate wargamers, miniature painters, role-players, Collectible Card Gamers as geeks, misfits, or wierd. So, even if they do \"accept\" your hobby in the beginning, they\'ll usually get their brains realigned with the opinions of the masses. If the person is truly accepting of you, they wouldn\'t care if you paint battle scenes on your toe nails.
Don\'t despair. The women are out there. I have a friend in America who has two Eldar armies (Plain eldar and Biel-Tan), Two Imperial Guard armies (Valhallans and Cadians), Two Imperial Space Marine armies(Salamanders, Silver Skulls), One Chaos Space Marine Army (Iron Warriors), one Speed Freaks army(Orcs),and two Tau armies(Regular Tau and the Farsight Conclave) armies. All of them are atleast 2000 points. He also has some of the Forge World and Armour Cast Titans and Super Heavies.
In Fantasy Battles he has; One Empire army, One Chaos Daemon army, One Chaos Warrior army, one Khemri army, and some Dogs of war.
I\'m not even going to go into his DBA,Mordheim, Warmaster, aerodome, Talisman...etc...etc...Justtake a look at his site if you don\'t believe me; HERE

Ok, so it seems that any woman in my life at best tolerates the mini painting, and, as I learned this weekend, can be downright hurtfull about it.
I got a \"Eric, you obviously have some talent, why don\'t you do something worthwhile with it?\" and went on to try to convince me I have been wasting my time and money at the hobby.
Well that of course turned into a argument and now we\'re not talking, and I don\'t know we will again (it got messy).
This has happened a couple times before in varrious ways (all ending poorly), I almost want to get a room for paintingwith a lock and never let anyone in there! :flame:
