Heh! Maybe she could beat IPM\'s record time to achieve freak status? Forget the munkie, the dog, the spider and the pony, there\'s a new race on. :)

Maybe with my low post count, I should challenge Dawn to freak status, and my new ADSL connection at home shall make me invincible. :supermansmiley:

One of the biggest problems experienced by mini-painters and computer gamers alike is that the image we got in the 80\'s of the nerd\'s with big glasses and no social skills rolling dice and looking at screens in basements has kind of stuck.

People fail to recognise that this is now the minority and a number of the people who were like this (sticks hand up) have actually become real human beings once they realised that sport was not the be-all and end-all of life.

As it is, computer game companies have finally realised that there target market is now professionals between the ages of 25 and 35 who actually have lives (most of them). Gaming companies seem to be moving this way as well.

Unfortuneately the stereotype is hard too shake. My fiancee barely tolerates my computer gaming and doesn\'t really understand my obsession with lead, but she does make the appropriate encouraging noises when I ask her, so that\'s OK.

Say goodbye to sanity.;)

Too late, isn\'t it? After all, she\'s already married. :innocent:

I find it peculiar that the media presents gamers as geeks with no lives. Most of my closest friends game. Our regular RPG group includes a librarian, an accountant, a computer programmer, and two insurance analysts.

I even know a doctor who games. The \"geekiest\" person I know does RPG development for White Wolf. But he pays the bills by doing computer tech support.

Well, I didn\'t think I was allowed to join since I wasn\'t a painter, but my wonderful husband assured me that that wasn\'t true. He even went so far as to set up my account and help me find an avatar. (In case you can\'t tell it\'s Lucille Ball dressed as Superman - me in a nutshell!:D)

Thanks again for the invite and I hope if any of you are ever in Atlanta please look us up.

Dawn

Hats off you brave woman & welcome.
I think the opinion of a non painter is as important as a painters viewpoint, but ya never know, we might could get a brush in your hand next:)
Again glad you jumped in Dawn,
Tracy

Welcome, Red Dawn!

We\'re glad to have you and pretty much accept anybody lol Painter or not, as has been pointed out . If you wish to make a successful splash here on the Forums, avoid the number one pitfall of most newcomers : waiting until you actually have something to say to post :D;):D Avoid that trap and you should be fine.

*off topic*
I love the way you people race for the post count. But I have to tell you, you\'ve seen nothing yet! My beloved husband managed to post 9500 (yes, that\'s right, 9,5K) messages on Russian Warhammer forums in two years! So far he\'s leading the count, but there are several people who have 7, 6, 4 K posts, and lots of users with 2K+ posts :D I\'m amazed that I\'m only at 800 there.

Margo, and only 450 here, get posting! :D

(Dawn, notice the complete lack of me having anything important to say here, yet still it doesn\'t stop me! :D)

That, ladies and gentlemen, was a perfect example of increasing a post count. As is this post, too :D

I am afraid this doesn\'t count as \'evidence\'lol

EricJ - not only do I think that Margo doesn\'t let my posts bother her, I don\'t even think she reads them!lol

And here I go praising her paintjobs and such, to boot!

Mind you, I do have the distinction of starting the \"Ladies of CMON Calendar\" idea...that may have something to do with it.

Finn LIVES!

How\'s it going? Haven\'t heard much from you for awhile. Not quite the same without you.

And Sniffles - He\'s kinda got you on the whole \"geeky\" point. (Even if I am one of the contract analysts she\'s talking about)

But at least we\'re not the ones stereotypically sitting in the corner reading some gaming book all by themselves. (We\'re smarter, we have it on .pdf in our work PC!lol)

And you know you\'re a minis geek when you\'re Windows screensaver are random pics of beautifully painted minis flashing across the screen...

My point exactly!! :D

I go used to go to Star Trek conventions and still regularly attend other sci-fi conventions. Lots of people think that is incredibly geeky. But I also used to attend conventions for photography teachers, and there wasn\'t much difference, except that the photographers didn\'t run around wearing Spock ears.

They did have a penchant for those vests with lots of little pockets on them, though. I find those much weirder than pointy latex ears.
lol:bouncy::p
