Red Metallic paint

Ok, I know Games Workshop used to make a Red Metallic paint, along with some others, like purple and green. I have the green. I am looking for a Red Metallic just like what they made. I got the Reaper Pro Paints Red Stell Metallic, or whatever its called, and its basically just a bronze. Does anyone know where I could find the old GW Red Metallic, or something just like it?

Try Coat d\'arms. I think that they were the producers of the metallica colours for GW.
Failing that add some Windsor & Newton Deep red ink to the paint to achieve the colour you desire.
Hope this helps.

try ...

try humbrol or tamiya. They have a good range of metallic paints.

But remember to water them down.

Alas GW no longer produce the coloured metals, but as DR says, try Coat\'d Arms for a red, mix your own, or even use the stuff that Plaid makes:

493 Metallic Bright Red

Its a better than average colour with minimal flake so it looks good when painted on.

The easiest way to achieve coloured metallics is to add ink directly to mithril silver. Or, do ink washes/glazes over the mithril silver, if done carely you can really control the shading and get some pretty cool effects.

Vallejo makes a metal medium. Just add what color you want, I suggest Inks (or dry pigment if you have it). This can be done with all paints and will look metallic. This same trick can be done with the matte, glaze, and gloss medium.

Coat d\'arms

Sorry chaps, but having just looked through my Coat d\'arms paints and colour chart, I can state quite categorically that I see no available Metallic Red colour! They do a lovely copper though which, quite unlike other metallics, is only partly metallic and mostly an orangey, rust-coloured pigment...see it to believe it!

Of course, the problem with red metals is that the flecks are still often white/metal and as a result they seem to give a grey/pinky/red finish. If they could get tiny red flecks in there instead, we\'d be laughing lol lol lol lol lol

The best way is as others mentioned; use a deep red ink with the metal and apply patiently in layers. I say layers as there\'ll likely be a damn sight more ink than metal in there. Therefore, patience is best. Maybe even a silvery-bronze-black mix for the first layer, then silvery bronze, then silver, then wash it with red and brown ink (maybe a couple of good light glazes?) and then start your ink and metal mix. Then glaze afterwards as well! I think it\'s one of those REALLY difficult colours, eh?

As I said, thin layers, or else my incredibly complex, untried and daft method will give too much paint on a small area and obscure details...hell, I may even try this one myself!

Rev, confused and happy :innocent:

Thanks for the help guys, I am gonna try the ink with mithril idea. I have the metallic base from Vallejo, and that didn\'t work out, the paint was some sick combo of clearish pink. and I also have the Reaper Red Metallic, which is more of a bronze than anything.
