Pictish Mini Painting

I'm actually a man!
Been an age since I updated here, mainly with chickenpox trying to kill me in December and being in the USA with work for a fortnight last month, lots going on.

My main work just now is designing and making a Destiny cosplay for a local comic convention in May, and doing a proper first commission for someone in our local gaming club.

Also started a second commission\favour for a friend for his business to display at the same said convention.

Planning what I shall be doing for this years golden demon, few idea in my head.

Cosplay paper craft helmet almost finished, resin fibreglass and then moulds to make:

First proper commission (WIP pics as had to rush the base a bit so no final pics):

Current work (apologies for sort of glare filled pic, dust has found its way into the SEALED iphone 5 camera lens):

Getting back into the hobby after a bit of a hectic last few months.

Well after a busy week and a full weekend of turning my flat lobby into a dust filled hole of depair sanding down my cataloy coated helmet (Steady!) I got some paint on the second figure for my mates shop display.

Gave NMM machined metal effect a go on the shield, quite pleased with first attempt though I see lots of mistakes, and looking at it had on the effect looks like its 6 interlocking parts rather than reflecting.

Coming along though: (Sorry for slightly hazy image, iPhones got dust in it somehow!

That looks awesome, after a quick Google of the caps shield I think the colours are looking good, I know you have identified the problem with them being siemetirc. great shine you have there, a reference pic of the shine will help where to put them, if you're going to try again.View attachment 36880

Cheers, that's very helpful. I may try again but my mates happy with it as it is, but was more a try out of thin blends and glazes to get my eye in again for the technique. :)

Whats the process for making the helmet? is that paper that you printed and glued now you are using filler on it? I must be missing a step?
Look forward to seeing your update on the shield.

@Canny. Its a Pepakura File (have a look on 405th or the RPF forum) Its a pattern printed onto paper with tabs and numbers and you glue it together at the tabs, takes a while and its fiddly but some really cool stuff going about. I am at putting on body filler and sanding down stage (tiny bit soul destroying), but getting there.

New delivery yesterday too :)

Good brushes mate, you're notice the difference

I certinaly notice the difference if I don't brush my #2 onto a recently superglued part like the last one #Because stupid!.

My lasset of 7s have lasted me about 5 years but losing point a bit and there was 10% off so I got the set renewed. Cant beat a #7

Thats awesome bud, I too am trying to do a pepacura helmet. Starlords mask to be exact. Any advice you can shoot this way would be awesome cause I never made anything with that yet.

Hi Digganob,

Check out the 405th.com and therpf.com forums.

Both are the homes of prop costume and cosplay builds with many files for pepakura and where to get the pepakura viewer\designer. Introduce yourself and have a look through the sticky threads etc as most of the info is there, rather than asking ANOTHER thread where all the stuff is ;)

There are a few starlord helmet builds ongoing.

My current progress:
