Scoring out of kilter, or...

Scoring is complete fluff. It never had a kilter to get out of. :)

Sure, it's fun, but if you wanted better accuracy, you'd want a comprehensive scale with breakouts for things like photography, construction, & painting. You'd probably also want more segregation in categories so a diorama or complex vehicle don't end up in the same bucket as an individual model.

Of course, asking people to put more than a few seconds of effort into scoring beyond "10 is amazing, 8 is a great job, 5 is tabletop quality" might really cut down on the number of voters. ;)

I gave it a 5, but I admit I'm being a tad enerous. The photo is wrongly focused (the focus is on the paper towel which is why the paper towel is the thing in the photo that "pops" out at you). Had the photo been focused the detail on the scarf would reveal a good thing or a bad thing, but it's hard to tell. The painting is generally mostly clean, and nothing that really grabs your attention. Detail on hat looks nice. Looks good on a tabletop, and isn't that the definition of 5? Personally I have to find fault with the mini (not clean, for example) to go below a 5.
