Im new to sculpting and I wanted to try this conversion before launching into my first full figure sculpt in order to improve my skills. I\'ve chosen to sculpt a Hulk Gladiator model based on the Marvel Heroscape Hulk. I loved the Planet Hulk Series and I decided a Hulk Gladiator would be quite cool. There is one already done by Heroclix - but I wanted to do this one anyway - for sculpting practice.
This first photo is the mock up. I had to shave away his pants so there\'s alot of work to do on his lower legs. The plan is a gladiator helmet, belt and gladiator kilt thingy, shoulder harness and shoulder guard, and of course the axe. I may or may not put the gladiator sandals on him like in the comic - haven\'t decided yet.
Here\'s the beginning of the gladiator helmet. I\'m keeping it simple.
Helmet is mostly done now - all I have left to do for it is the plume. Ive carved down a small piece of plasticard for now. Later I\'ll cover it with green stuff and carve the plumes. The axe blade is carved plasticard as well. I have also started sculpting on the axe with Procreate.
The axe handle is made from several electronic pin connectors. Here\'s a close up...
and a shot of the very quickly and messily sketched shield design - also from the comic. You can also see some green stuff on his lower leg - the molded plastic on Heroscape models is very pliable and doesn\'t take to carving very well so I am going to have to do an extensive amount of covering up the areas where I shaved off his trousers. I also may turn the shield long ways for a better fit and more dramatic look. In future updates I\'ll try that out and get reactions.
Anyway - hope this comes out well. Please feel free to offer constructive comments and suggestions. I\'m very new to sculpting so I need all the help I can get.
Thanks!!
