Hi,

sorry for the delay. Was a bit of a busy week so I only got to work on the gun again yesterday. Apart from some minor cleaning (yikes, scary what a digital camera pics up!) I\'m done:

Perhaps it\'s an idea to start a separate thread for that so the different projects don\'t get mixed up. I can\'t recommend any parts as I\'m totally at a loss if it comes to GW stuff. As to scratch building, to start, if you go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/1listsculpting/ you will find three tutorials I wrote about sculpting a steam kangaroo. This is in the FAQ folder of the files section. A lot of sculpting techniques for mechanical parts are described in there. There used to be a step by step on making a mech by Kevin Ng but he still hasn\'t put it up on his new site, so no help there.

The gun can be made the way I did but since yours does not have to cast you can use plastics too.

Hi,

figure is on it\'s way to Orb. I did some repacking and I think this package should be able to survive the world tour.

I also added a groove cutter. Metal strip with a cutting end where the taper is far less than on a normal knife. You can use it to cut panel lines that are wide enough not to get filled up with paint. Scale modelling trick. It\'s best used on hard putties like Milliput (after curing) and plastic. I wasn\'t sure if anybody was going to need it (for instance when making the feathers on the wings) but since it\'s easy to make I put it in the box.

Bye, Ming-Hua

the good news is

i get too keep my finger. bad news, i\'m loosing a joint in one of my fingers. for those keeping score;
vampire saw: 2
nick: 0

i can only type with one hand right now, but long story short, workpiece caught on saw blade, smacked hand, threw hand into saw blade, cut off finger clean except for one blood vessel, one nerve and one layer of skin.

i have a check up next wednesday, but the two pins they put in stay for at least 6 to 8 weeks. so if the mini doesn\'t get here and rehabilitation goes smoothly i can still work on the project. i\'ll keep you posted.:(

thanks everyone. it\'s my left pinkie, but i really can\'t use my left hand at all. i have feeling in the finger, but am loosing the last joint... the blade went right between the two bones and cut them both... there wasn\'t any cartilage left at all. only option was to fuse them into one bone. so after rehab i\'ll be good as new, but right now i\'m pretty useless. tryed to tack down a mini and paint it one handed, but that didn\'t work very well because i\'m a little shaky from all the drugs so my bone doesn\'t get infected. it really didn\'t hurt much, i just thought i\'d been hit by the workpiece being thrown... then i looked down and my finger was hanging by a thread. so i spent an hour in the ER, an hour in the back seat of a car an another hour in the OR. the ER told me i could eat, but the OR said i really shouldn\'t have, so they couldn\'t put me out for the surgery and the doc asked if i\'d like to watch, so he set me up a tv screen. pretty cool stuff. it\'s weird, it never really bleed much. anybody know why that is?

but, i think i\'m down there around number 7 or so... so take your time with her and i\'ll be good as new before you know it.

thanks again for all the well wishes, really means a lot everyone:((in the good way:))

Yeah, there is NO WAY I would be able to watch them do that, hell I wouldn\'t even be able to hear it! It wouldn\'t matter if I\'d eaten or not they might as well put me out coz if they didn\'t i do it myself lol

Reminds me of my friend who was training to become a doctor, got slashed along the elbow with a knife, sat talking to the Dr as he was having his arm put back together and the Dr was showing him all his muscles, ligaments etc.

itchy: i can not even guess to what you are feeling, but the tooth i had pulled yesterday is starting to hurt thinking about it.

i lopped off the end of my ring finger on my right hand when i was about 9, so i dont really remember how it felt. (grandma\'s rocking chair got stuck up and i stuck my hand in there and freed it and pulled back a \"partial\". lol i was not a fearful child or maybe was just a dumb one.)

hope things go well. as now (22 years later) i can not even tell that it even happened. (except for very cold weather and the memory.)
hope you have the same recovery but much sooner.

I was woken up this morning by the postman - boohoo! but my 7 year old answered and the mini was delivered, safe and intact! Nice on Ming-Hua!

First reaction.....this is really happening!

Second.......it\'s tiny! and the gun is something else!

will get to my bit asap, as soon as other commitments are out of the way.

Hi,

yeah the figure is pretty small. I\'m glad everything arrived ok and I\'m looking forward to seeing your portion of the mini.
