Sculpting project

An Apology

I’m so very sorry that I have been quiet for so long. For some reason, this group sculpt turned into a nightmare for me – what I produced was in my opinion awful, and I struggled with every aspect of it. For a moment I thought I was a good sculptor, and this has really knocked me.

I don’t understand why, but I tried to hide from everyone, thinking the internet is an anonymous place, but it’s not and the feeling of letting people down and simply being crap made me hide even more. It was wrong and I have to face I’m a pratt.

I really apologise for ruining this for so many talented and enthusiastic miniaturists.

I have sent my effort on to Seth, who should have it in the next day or two.

I\'ve now read the thread and you guys are legendary. Don\'t know what to say really. Wish I could find some motivation like you lot.

Apologies again.

Take Care

Hi Rob,

glad to hear you\'re still around. Shame the sculpting didn\'t work out but at least you tried.

Seth, let us know when you get the stuff.

Bye, Ming-Hua

Rob, don\'t stress bloke, apology accepted and all that, but really s\'o.k. :)

If sculpting was that easy then everyone would be doing it and I wouldn\'t have a job :(

I shall await Mr Postman.

@ming hua, does this mean that we have two versions on the go or are we reverting to the original schedule?

No prob Rob:) Know the feeling of wanting to run away, but hey, you did the good thing and came on. At least we know you\'re ok now, and as far as i see it, that\'s the important thing. Welcome back to CMoN. (and you\'re still a GREAT sculpter in my book... no worries)

No sweat Rob, I was also too taken by RL and too much an ass to say it to you guies. So I didn\'t even have time to redo the armature. If it\'s off to Seth (or already at his place), than that\'s great :).

ooh sheet! looks like i have to practise the art of green again soon. any tips from the pros (hint hint cap\'n) on how thin or fine i shouldnt go, so that the mini will actually get out of the mould in tact???

and am i doing the wings to be separate?

Cap, thanks for the correction. :)

Tips for the wings? I wouldn\'t go thinner than 3mm for the main part but you can always make the edges thinner so the wings appear thin. Have a look at models with wings, you\'ll often see this technique used. I also did this on my captain of the cards.

I\'d make the wings as separate pieces as I think it will be hard to do them otherwise. I mailed a tip on making the stepped effect on the wings a few pages back if that helps. Personally I would use a green stuff/Milliput mix for them since it\'s mechanical and it will help if you can sand it.

Rob,
Don\'t sweat it, the main intent of this project was to particpate as a group and have fun. Do you best, but don\'t get too tied up the outcome. Any how glad you\'re back.

Well folks, thanks for that. Amazing how this sort of thing can freak you (well, me at least). But the bottom line is love this hobby and it wasn\'t doing me any good getting so stressed.

Just got back from Boston - last year I booked to go to the World Expo 2005 model show there - amazing time, lots of mainly historical things there, but minis too - I entered the assassin CMON 4 figure as a last thought, and won a Bronze medal in the advanced painters category. Well and truly inspired again; maybe not these group projects, but to make stuff again. also met Joe Videki, who is such a cool guy.

I\'ll support the project still as much as possible.

Thanks for not sh*tting on me

Rob

Itchy, sorry to see you drop out again. Good luck with your career. What part of the army are you joining (was in communications myself).

For the sculptors not yet involved, anybody want to take over the trousers+shoes phase?

Well, i\'m joining the Navy. The only two jobs i\'m looking at are Special Inteligence and Machinist\'s Mate. i was all ready to be a Navy spook, but then realized i\'d really be tieing myself to the government. There aren\'t really too many civilian jobs for spooks. So now i\'m 99% sure i\'ll go in as a machinist and 99% sure i\'ll go into the Navy. The only other branch that really appealed to me was the Air Force, but they can only guarente you a field of work, not a specific job.

Well, i wish you all the best of luck on the sculpt and i can\'t wait to see the metal mini in the CMoN shop.

Howdy

Well minimaker - I am available if you need me. You have seen my stuff from 1list. If you don\'t think I am ready, that is fine too - I do not have self esteem issues :p, I can handle the truth!!

peace :D
