Hi guys.

Just to let you know if you want me to join in anywhere then just let me know.

I will certainly be up for the next one if thats OK.

Yeah, but I figured a bionic arm could be out of proportion either way (bigger or smaller) and not look wrong.

Klute: how comfortable are you with mechanical bits? What we could do is that I do the wing sections of the wing and you do the central piece with the back attachment.

Angus, good to hear from you again. Hmm, how about taking over the equipment from Trevor (if he\'s ok with that) so he can concentrate on the arms and finishing touches?

Mechanical no problems.
I havnt seen the sketches yet so I will take a look later.
If you can give me some sizes for the main piece then there should be no problem sculpting this seperate. I am assuming it is some type of backpack that the wings attatch to. ?

There is a sketch on page 15 or 16 or so.

Green stuff: can you make a size diagram? Or shall I make one?

By the way, I will be making the armature for the wings myself as I will be using sheet material.

Thought I would repost this.

So Im looking at the main centre block with the \"spine\" and the two top \"tentacles\".

If I can get a size across the main width I can scale from that.

I will edit this pic tomorrow to remove the wings.

I reckon ball socket joints for the wing/body joint and the tentacles sculpt vertical for easier casting ( they can be bent into shape )

Later.

Very quick (need to go to sleep)

How about:

1. green stuff - France - making/posing the armature and freezing the joints.
2. Medved - UK - bulking out + head
3. Minimaker - Netherlands - wings
4. Klute - UK - centrepiece wings section
5. Jimbob - US - trousers+shoes
6. Xavier - US; torso + fitting wings section to back
7. Angus - US equipment - flying drapery section of jacket
8. Trevor - Australia - Arms and finishing

OK by me, but what exactly does \'finishing\' entail?
Does that mean I get blamed if the final mini sucks? ;) lol

Yup ..... lol Just kidding.

At the end we will have a look at the mini and check if there are any bits that need a touch up. If so, then you can be the sculptor to do those bits.

Ok Ive done a quick re work of the wing centrepiece.
Does 5mm across the main section sound about right.
Im thinking it wants to be less than the figures shoulders which should be around 7mm for a 28mm figure ??

I\'ll create a sizediagram and send it to greenstuff so he can change set it at the right height.

Cedric - you\'ve got mail (hot mail).

Hi,

quick update to keep this thread from changing page. :) I\'ve send greenstuff the diagram and he\'s working on the armature.

Greenstuff: when you\'re done, can you send me a diagram scaled to the right size? I will then put it in photobucket with instructions.

Klute: considering the size of the wings we are going to need a heavier connection than just balljoints. Better go for a pin-hole joint.

\"Klute: considering the size of the wings we are going to need a heavier connection than just balljoints. Better go for a pin-hole joint.\"

Agreed.
We need to decide on the joint detail. I would suggest the pinholes running front to back where I have the ballsocket highlighted.
That would also mean the wings would be adjustable vertically unless we use a square location.

Vertical slots would be best for support but we don\'t seem to have much space. I\'d say pin-hole like you describe but with a straight surface underneath. The wings can be made so the ends use that as a guide/rest.

Actually, more like this:

I
I O
I____

Pin to keep it in place, face on the side and bottom to keep it in position. This should also be good to catch any casting variances in measurements.

Yup got that mate.
What diameter should I make the pin hole ?

It would probably be a good idea for me to send my finished bit to you to match the locations.
I suppose I could leave the pinhole too and just mark the centre point and you can drill the hole to match the size of the \"male\" part.

I\'ll give a suggestion when I know how big the figure will be.

I\'m thinking of doing it the other way around. I\'ll send you the wings when I\'m done and you can mate it to the back. You should also have the body then so you can place it correctly aligned to the body. I\'ll leave the wing ends blank so you can add details to it.
