Sculpting project

Well, seeing as there are 11 of us, we can start both at the same time, that way there will be less time from when it starts to when you get to have a go at one of the minis.

I think that the mini\'s should be cast, then we can have a round robin to paint it.

That would really be a group project. Out of interest, what do we do with the figure when it\'s done?

well how about if the CMON shop will foot the bill for the production mould then they can have any sales proceeds for site upkeep?

otherwise i say we just get it master moulded, a few copies each would probably keep us all happy

Er, I meant the group sculpted/cast/group painted figure from Itchy \'s mail. :)

I wonder if the CMON shop would be interested. I\'d guess they may want to see the result first. lol What country is the shop\'s store by the way? US?

@Trevor. \"round robin\". Is that an Ozzie expression?

Yeah, I see no reason why CMON wouldn\'t cast it up for us if 1) it was good enough and 2) we let them keep proceeds. Someone should PM Borg and see what he thinks. Alternatively get in touch with SJB, Pete the Mighty (or any of the other sculptors/casters here) and see if one of them would organise something for us.

Round robin is an \"english\" term, although which country is responsible I\'m not sure, it was just what the first miniature painting chains were called.

If we do the cyber girly can I suggest that we do it at the same scale as the Sacred Blade cyber guys, the sketch seems like the style would fit great with that range and it increases the useability of the fig.

Well, well, quite a lot of subjects are aborded in the last posts :).

*) The first question that comes to mind is should we have a vote or should we just go along and sculpt the minis?

*) What scale are Sacred Blade miniatures?

*) What to do whith the sculpted/casted/painted mini? in this thread we\'re planning on selling it on e-bay and donating the profits to CMON.

*) Once we\'ll have chosen what we\'re doing exactly, I\'ll PM Borg or Chern Ann and see what can be done with CMON, unless of course they\'ve come along this thread;).

And lastly, here is an illustration of the samouraï archer I mentioned at the start of this thread (he is not based on any historical material, so sorry if I got something wrong) :

By the way, polls can have up to 10 choices, so at your pencils ;).

I imagine a one off sculpt sold on e-bay wouldn\'t get that much money, but a good sculpt given to CMON to cast would probably make them more money. Also I would like a copy of the final sculpt, and I\'m sure others would too, if we cast* it everyone is happy.

I think the SB minis are 40mm scale, certainly slightly larger than the usual 28mm.

* If for whatever reason its turns out a disaster, then we don\'t have to cast it and just sell the sculpt on e-bay, we can use CMON to determine if its good enough.

Here\'s a wacky idea. If CMON was to sell the minis, how about doing minis of the people/characters in Chrispy\'s comic? That way, there would be a complete collection and enough to go arround for everybody.

I am commited to that little bit though :p

A little bit more in the fantasy theme, here\'s another sketch (a lion warrior) :

If someone comes up with a tiger and a bear warrior concept, then maybe we could try a fantasy Dorothy theme ;).

Thanks Trevor :).

I\'ll be putting up the poll tomorrow morning (french time) whenever I wake up ... yes it\'s all very precise ;).

So if anybody has some other themes they\'d like to see, it\'s now or never ... or for the next project ;).

well, here real quick i sketched up that shifty eye assassin i was talking about earlier.

Kind of a skinny guy in an overcoat with his eyes shifted and he\'s got one of those wavy bladed knifes behind his back. Simple, classic, spookie. Whaddaya all think???

Origineel geplaatst door green stuffWhat scale are Sacred Blade miniatures?
I just came back from my friend Cindy who sculpts for them and she told me the scale depends on the range. The SF range is bigger and she calls it 40mm.
Personally I think that is too far away from regular scales and I\'d rather go for making it compatible for void. I just measured Pi and she is about 33mm floor to eyes standing straight up.

And the winner is ... the cyber-angel.

Well since this show is on the road, Medved, if you have time, could you do a few drawings so we can get a cleaned up version of the cyber-angel? We\'ll assign roles after.

As for scale, since the wings are going to take up much of the volume, something between 28mm and 35 mm should be good.

Cyber angel - cool. A few thoughts before medved starts reworking the drawing. (long mail coming up. :)

The drawing is just one thing in the design proces. One thing I find very helpfull is a background for the character. What, who, where, when, why. I make up a story or imagine a scene. Here are some examples I drew up as assingments for the restricted VIP projects:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/1listSculpting/message/28602
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/1listSculpting/message/28643

Brainstorming:
What? Female figure with cyberpunk/sf gear and wings. Are these implants, body replacements or just wearable additions? Practical hardware or decorative fashionware? Is it just hardware or is there bioware involved too? How about neuroware?

Who? Military, lay, corporate, criminal, sect, gang or private? Machine or human? Or is she a Frankenstein monster made of revived flesh, metal and plastics? Superhero?

Where? Is she from a low-grav planet where flying is a normal hobby? A city where the groundfloor is filled with lowlife and gangs and the only place of safety is in the air with the filthy rich? A battlefield over the sea, plains, woods, cityfight?

When: cyberpunk, sf

Why? Is it a job requirement? Did she choose for the changes herself? Is she a fanatic? Was flying her dream and is it still? What is her mental state? Bliss since she enjoys flights? Indifferent as it\'s just another piece of gear? Frenzy as a result of cyberpsychosis which makes she doesn\'t relate to humans any more? Or sadness, rage and confusion since she doesn\'t know what she is and where she belongs too? Is she a member of a apocalypse sect? People who are feel they have been given the tasks to bring forth the apocalypse themselves? Or a group devoted to bringing angels in the world?

Just to see if roling cyberpunk 2002 characters give any ideas:
- Corporate suits, short spiked hair, ritual scars, Chinese/SE asian, urban homeless family, grew up in urban combat zone, 5 siblings, intellectual and detached, has good friend, motivation: having a good time, every person is valuable, most valued a tool.
(Corporate security or law officer?)
- cammos, tinted hair, long fingernails, black American, gang family, parents murdered, family scattered, grew up in small village far away from city, only child, stable and serious, has personal hero, values love, likes most people, treasure a photograph.
(Innocent nature transformed to revenging angel?)

I\'m not totally happy with the pose by the way. The way she stands looks a bit strange and the wings are not involved in the action. Perhaps it\'s an idea to have her wings perform a protective action like shielding her from an overhead blasts while she fired at the person who threw the grenade. Or a downward beat when she jumps up firing. What could also be interesting is if the wings somewhat follow the movements of the arms.

Nuff brainstorming from me now. :D Your thoughts and ideas?
