Sculpting project

Nice model of the wing. What program did you use?

The design looks ok for a batwing design. If we want to go for a birdwing design I think the end section could look nicer like this:
wingtip.jpg

As to the thickness, you can hide this by making the cross section tapered. Edge thin, rest thick. This is how that works on one of my figures.

Some examples of mechanical arms:

@orb, congratulations with your son! :)

Well... what game is this character implied for, and where can i read up on some of the fluff for that game? Maybe if i understood the background i\'d be more of a help with designing the mini as well as sculpting her. Thanks.

Blender: powerful, light, free, ..., and originally made by a dutch based company ;).

I agree with your design for the feathers, much more elegant.

For the arm, I was thinking of something in the line of the synthetic muscle one, kind of like in Ghost in the Shell.

What weapons should we give her, if any?

Just tossing it \'out there\' but what about the possibility of her possibly having lost a leg as well and its redone with a bird like apparatise (all steely claws and sharp bits).

BTW, drawings and work up - very intersting stuff here and it really shows the talent on these forums.

Actually I meant a base with a hole for the tab, so the mini is seperate. That way if we cast it, you don\'t have to have the base.

I like this, bases are simpler to make than mini\'s, and I\'m getting wet feet when I see all this detail on wings and arms :)

I don\'t think that has been decided yet. Perhaps we should collect the suggestions made and do a poll? For the time being I\'m going generic cyberpunk/SF.

@greenstuff
Blender? Cool, Dutch project. Got it here but haven\'t had the time to work with it yet.

Weapons? Probably. :D Here is some inspiration from cyberpunk sites:

ah, i see... well then, as long as we\'re out in the open throwing around crazy ideas... what about butterfly wings? Making them out to look like sheet metal, square tubing and hoses. i know it\'s a really radical idea, just thought i\'d throw it out there.

Weapons... i\'d really like something that looked a bit like a plasma pistol from Warhammer 40K -OR- just a sword and no firearm at all.

Clothing... i know it\'s unheard of, but what if we did a fully dressed female mini that WASN\'T in a skin tight body suit?

just thought i\'d spice it up a bit

The problem is that polls are limited to 10 choices and 1 vote per person.

Could be interesting. Not very cyberpunk, but an idea to check out.

What? And alienate potential teenage customers that forget that these are \"only\" toy soldiers ;)? No seriously, come up with a sketch so we can see if it works :). Are you thinking of her wearing normal clothes, a trench coat, something in the line of fantasy mangas, or something completely different?

cyberbflypose1.jpg

Nice idea but I think butterfly wings gives us too little to play with in the pose since they re basicly just two flat sheet that can\'t be bend into interesting poses like bat and birdwings.

Sure, why not.

For those who want to sketch clothing, just trace the pose you like (or request another) and draw clothings over it.
I\'ve put two outline prints here:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v490/minimaker/temp/sketch1.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v490/minimaker/temp/sketch2.jpg
Also handy for those who don\'t know how to draw humans but still want to do some designing.

Who\'s working on sketches now?

Two sketches using those outlines I posted. Just some ideas. The one on the left is a full body replacement (though we could leave the head organic) but with clothes. Weapon and wings are part of the body. The second is a \"dressed\" figure. :) Sketched two types of wings.

More sketches anybody? We should get a design together so we can start before the holidays.

Well, in that case i\'m not to sure how to make it not look like a G I Joe with wings. But i\'m up for sculpting anything you guys come up with.:)

Sorry I\'ve been out of the loop for a while.

I like the kneeling pose, from the computer pics, or the running/firing one.

Love the sword and the gun idea.

The robotic wings greenstuff and minimaker have come up with are awesome, perfect, love the mechanical spine attachment, and the pose is great, never seen anything quite so dynamic as that in wings before.

I like the standard android arm (but the synthetic muscle on is cool too), and I think we should keep the bionics to a minimum, I vote just one arm. However, we can add loads of little implanty things, sensors, bionic eye, etc.

I like the idea of clothes or body suit.

@ Tuubje, yeah, I\'m thinking this is rapidly getting out of my ability as well (still want to do a power pack or cybernetic bit though). How about we do a base? (others please chip in with ideas/sketches)

Digging the Wings

I really like the mechanical wings on the right side. They look much better, and fit the cyborg thing.

As for her body it think it would be cool to have cables coming out of her head. A bionic eye...

@Tuubje and Trevor. No worries. Every design will have easier and tougher bits. If we choose the design right there will be something for every level on it. Clothed figures will be easier than nude or with skintight clothing by the way.

I\'d like a mix of organic and bionic. One arm and leg (or part of a leg) bionic + enhancements, wing attachment to the spine and shoulders like in the 3d model.
Cables to her head? How about making her hair cables or metalic bundles that go into the backpack.

As to weapons, I like the styling of this one:http://www.angelfire.com/d20/autumnblade/46bfn24.jpg (from http://www.angelfire.com/d20/autumnblade/rifles.htm). Futuristic looking, compact, bullpup. We can add something so it can rest on the bionic arm to make it more balances when fired like a pistol.

Bladed weapon? We could. If a sword, I\'d prefer a straight one. Or we could go crazy and let us be inspired by some exotic weapons like some of these http://www.martialartsmart.net/chinese-martial-arts-weapons-exotic-weapons.html

Ideas on hairstyle, short, long, modern, ponytail, bald?

Well, as far as bionics/implants... i\'d like the only fully robotic bits to be an arm and the wings... she can have upgrades, but i\'d like to see her stay mainly human.

You\'re weapon won\'t load for me... i get a picture saying \"hosted by angelfire\" and no gun:(. But i like compact and sci-fi for a project like this... plasma pistle comes to mind.

i\'m ok with bladed weapons. If anyone else wants them, i can help make \'em. Check out my latest posted mini to see a bladed scythe i sculpted. http://www.coolminiornot.com/74381 (bottom left shows the GS work done on the mini)

Hair... how about little wired (copper hold up to vulcanazation?) that pull back into a fat cable that wraps it\'s way into her backpack that connects her back to the wings?

Murphy\'s law. I just checked and guess what. It\'s the only picture on that page that\'s giving problems now! :(
Fortunately there is a second pic of the weapon. It\'s on this page: http://www.angelfire.com/d20/autumnblade/rifles.htm 6th gun from the top (SEBURO MS-25). Similar in layout to this one: http://www.iisports.com/product.asp?dept_id=5200&pf_id=XA2410C

Copper survives a vulcanizer ok. Using copper wires and bundling them? Could work but I think it\'s safer to sculpt them.

@Ming-Hua : I really like the rifle you posted :

46bfn24.jpg

Reminds me of Ghost in the Shell, Apple Seed, or the current standard french military rifle.

I\'m also into a straight sword if there is one.

As for the clothing, hair style, and abundance of implants, I think it will really depends on who she is : resurrected youth, cyberpunk amazone, law enforcer, ... that should be our first choice, we can finalize poses and design after.

Bullpup, sub machine pistol gun very cool, straight sword fine by me, and I have a soft spot for long flowing hair...

As for sculpting, I like a challenge and I won\'t improve if I don\'t stretch myself.

Better pictures of that gun:
http://www.poseidon.co.jp/2F/mn-23/mn1.html
I think it\'s originally from a comic/animated movie?
EDIT: Yup, Dominion conflict. http://www.honneamise.u-net.com/anime/dom22.jpg I think Essex released minis of those girls. I\'ve got one somewhere.

Back to the subject: any more designs?
