Sculpting project

Yeah... your gun\'s purdy dang cool, but i like the H&K \"goblin\" better... maybe the name swayed me?lol But i like it better without the extra clip/stock, just the pistle bit.

You\'ve never used tiny copper wire to do hair? It\'s kind of cheating (never done it myself, but seen it done before) but looks good once sculpted.

Well, I\'m not in on this at all, but I kinda like the idea...

Any examples? I\'m a little worried about the wires shifting or getting compressed during mouldmaking.

I can\'t draw for squat, but I know what I think it should look like now, so I\'ll try to describe it.

Pose: kneeling, with left hand wing part folded and down to the front, right wing less folded and more raised. Left hand holds bullpup gun tucked in resting on leg . Head turned slightly to right (longish hair flowing out behind and to the left, and looking slightly down along right bionic arm which is held straight and slightly to the right and down, pointing sword.

Base: some sort of building or wall, either high tech with pipes and rubble indicative of battle scene or decaying industrial world, or a futuristic Gothic affair with her like a gargoyle.

Clothes: modern, tight fitting fatigues, with various bits of equipment, wrist mounted computer, maybe a HUD or a bionic eye, little packs with lights and buttons on them.

Can anyone see into my mind and draw that for me?

Oh and she needs a little loincloth, or other flowing clothing, so I have something to sculpt... ;)

:D

Flowing clothing? Hmm, loincloth could be an idea if we use a native Americans theme (thunderbird gang/clan - idea?). Otherwise, long coat? If we manage to combine that with whatever we do with the wing.

As to the sketch, I hope somebody has the time for that. I\'m pretty busy this weekend. Anyway, we have several people here who can draw better than me. :)

Inspiration for mechanical parts: you know the Legions of steel range? Succubot is nice, picture is bad though.

@Trevor : I had a drawing going along that line (even had the HUD ;)), but screwed it up :(. Was basing it on some kind of police/judge theme. I\'ll see if I can do something before the end of this week-end.

Hummm... now that you mention it, i\'m not 100% sure how they do it. i\'d guess they build up the hair with GS and us the copper wire just as a top layer for it\'s easy texture.???

i\'m not much of a sketcher, and today\'s my sister\'s birthday... but tomorrow i\'ve got a storyboard to take down and i\'ll give my hand at drawing up our cyberpunk angel ala Trevor\'s description.

Not unless I was sculpting orks at age ten...:D I\'m flattered, though....

No, I\'m just a mild-mannered, unassuming teenager hailing from the hamlet of Nelson, B.C.

i\'m back finally!

wowza! tecnology related absence and i miss all the fun. this thread just keeps on evolving. has anything conrete been set yet? apart from the people on the project i am a little worried that we could end up talking about it for ages but ultimately achieving nothing (guess who\'s been on a management course recently) i think we have some great suggestions. lets just have a crack at them!

Ah, you too? I\'ve just finished the last chapter in my IT course on that. Pitfalls in project management. :D
That\'s why I\'m trying to get people to make some sketches so we can make a choice. Talking of which, weren\'t you working on one? :)
Oh, and to avoid confusion, Green stuff is the project leader here. :)

????????? Are you sure on that one? I thought that it was the epoxy we were going to use for the sculpt ;). No seriously, it was Medved\'s idea to begin with, I just thought it would be fun to do ;). At best, I\'m just keeping the thread alive, and have no plans on coming up with Gantt charts ;).

Back to the subject, could we finalize her origins? Ming-Hua has done some great poses, but sketches take time to do, so we would gain time if that was chosen.

Yup, keeping the thread alive, getting people together, arranging polls, sounds like a project leader to me. :p

and have no plans on coming up with Gantt charts
No need to, though I think a network plan may be usefull if we have several people working at the sculpt at the same time.

About the origins. I\'ve collected the different themes we\'ve had here:
- Corporate security
Well off, top grade high tech weapons and equipment, bussiness suit style uniform, corp logo, selected for looks as well as capability, bussiness like behaviour.

- Law officer
Moderate income, uniform, high tech weapons but not so fancy ans the corporate stuff - possibly slightly outdated, any type of body that fits the minimum requirement, behaviour fanatic (Judge Dredd)/frustrated (Decker)/\"it\'s a dirty job but somebody has to do it\".

- Military
A Law officer but with military robust equipment of a higher grade.

- Fashion/Jet set
Well off (or well sponsored), fancy equipment and clothing, stylish, seductive, arrogant. Prima dona?

- Apocalypse sect
Street girl, weapons and equipment: whatever she can get or higher grade, sponsored by somebody with a hidden agenda, rebellious striking provocative clothing, aggressive.

- Protective cyberangel
Street girl with cyberwings, kindlooking, young, poorly dressed.

- Vengefull angel
As protective cyberangel but with weapons and aggressive

Did I miss any? I\'m going for apocalyps or vengefull.

Ok, I\'m off again trying to break my sculpting speedrecord (order confirmed thursday, has to be at the caster ASAP - sigh).

Careful, careful Ming-Hua you\'re likely to fall in that category too ;). Thanks for all your help :).

I\'m in for the Law officer, Vengefull angel (instead of weapons, we could have static electricity coming from her hands), or Street girl.

Good luck with your sculpting speed record (if you have time, put some pics on the WIP thread :))

Sorry, it\'s a special convention figure, so I can\'t really show it now.

Here\'s a sketch for the vengefull angel idea :
CyberAngelSketch002.jpg

I didn\'t work on her expression, something meaner might work better. The big down side of this concept is that it would need at least 5 parts (angel, right arm, right wing, left wing, cloak). The cloak idea is that to get her vengence done, she first needs to find information and going around the mega-city with big wings in your back isn\'t very discreet ... plus I thought it just looked cool ;). The coat is a big Matrix cliché, but who cares ;). Wasn\'t very inspired for the other accessories ... if somebody has better ideas, I\'m open :).

Trevor

Thats it, add another cool concept into the mix. Hell, why don\'t we just sculpt a multi-part and do head/arm variants?

I\'m with the stop talking start doing line, lets make a decision and get going :)

Nice design. We can actually do it in 3 parts. Wings, cape and main figure.

Combining other ideas I liked with your drawing. My ideas:
- Electric fields? I\'d avoid that. it looks good on paper but is very hard to pull off convincingly in pewter.
- I like the left for dead and reconstructed idea. Some bionic components. One arm, one lower leg.
- The streetgirl idea, clothing as in your drawing but with cut off jeans over the tights, army boots, jacket patched, mantle a bit damaged. Hair is good.
- Vengefull. Expression: can go from stern to rage (and if you really want a challenge you can make a combi of rage and sadness :) ). How to connect her to what she\'s vengefull about? Her father\'s police shield bend with a hole though it hanging on a necklace?
- Pose. I prefer the active pose I did for the poser fig with bat wings. Hair and cape flowing in the direction that she\'s firing.
- Weapons. Yes please.

Anybody with me? :)

Well, it sounds like you guys have a winner, at least in my opinion. ;) I like the streetgirl outfit idea, and the bionic arm/eg idea, too. Vengeful expression=good, and I like the running pose.

I\'m not sure about \"her fathers police shield bend with a hole through it hanging on a necklace\" I mean, unless the \"bend\" is a small part of it, which it might very well be, it either means that she is a fucking huge steriod-fuelled angst machine, and isn\'t bothered in the least having a 3 foot shield hanging off her neck, or that the shield is 6 inches tall, and her father deserved to die for being a stupid git, as he evidently relied on a six inch shield for protection.
:D
