Two years ago, I posted my first real miniature, by which I mean the first miniature I\'d painted with any type of clue as to how it should be done. Technically speaking, I\'d painted a few other figures 10-15 years earlier, but those were just \"three colors means they\'re tabletop-legal,\" paint-by-numbers style paint jobs and not much more... paint straight from the bottle, no thinning, no concept of shading/highlighting, etc. But after spending far too long simply reading the great info on sites like CMoN and gaining all the \"book knowledge\" without actually putting it into practice, I eventually, finally produced that guy.
Now, I\'ve finally got around to posting the next couple figures I\'d done. I\'m linking them here to try to get some comments and criticism (and maybe a couple votes), while I try to track my progress as a painter who can quote any technique from any article on this site (and many others!) but is still only just starting to get his own brushes wet.

I painted this Blood Bowl Chaos Dwarf a year ago, one year after the first miniature. He\'s not actually a very good gauge of progress, really, because I didn\'t put too much effort into him. That\'s because he was part of a group project from a Blood Bowl forum in which the community voted on the color scheme -- choosing one I hated, that I think looks awful on the figures we used. Between the fact that didn\'t I start him until too close to the deadline and didn\'t enjoy painting him very much, I rushed him just to get him done... oh, well. I\'m really just including him for historical accuracy.

My third miniature, on the other hand, was a blast when I painted him a few months ago. He\'s a halfling-size skeleton football player with a ton of character -- big, goofy grin with his feet flailing in the air as he runs. I did put some effort into him and, while he could certainly stand to see some improvement, I was happy with him overall as just a third figure.
Again, comments and constructive criticism would be most welcome, as that\'s what I really need more than votes (although those are always nice, too!
). I know I\'ve got a long way to go, and that actually time spent sitting and painting is the most important thing in getting there, but I\'m really serious about wanting to develop my skills -- competition-level quality is what I\'m (eventually) going to be aiming for. I painted two more figures last month which I\'ll be posting soon, so I\'ll then have a look further down my path, too.
