Yeah right

The same who did these btw notice the freehand "perfect" done illustrations on theodin and eowyns bases. She had the whole fellowship done with perfect precision and that was one of her slayer sword winners.

View attachment 41856View attachment 41857Maybe this will show more clearly what I mean!!!! This is why you can never ever take anything personally if you do not win a miniature painting comp. you'll sometimes more often than not be with some of the greatest painters who all realize art is subjective. This is why I never really give a lot of critic each piece others do is their tale on it. I can give ideas but I appreciate each one done by my brothers in league with myself. But an 8.4 ATM -that just makes me laugh its PEEERFECT!

Breathe BAM.

At the risk of getting killed: 8.4 isn't that bad if people are voting on what they think of the paintjob as opposed to the name of the painter. I agree that Natalya has mad skills and that the Venetian lady is gorgeous. But she may not be everyone's taste. Just as there are thousands of different artists with their own style, there are also thousands of viewers who have their own idea of what the rating system means. These things tend to balance out with time.

I don't mean to be taking away from your point, I'm just offering a different viewpoint. Maybe I see it differently because I am not a recognised name by any means, so I'm pretty happy with whatever score people choose to give my work.

I think the paint job is fantastic but as arch says it might be the subject that's the problem?
I'm ok with it :bulgy-eyes:

I agree with both of you guys and gals. My point really was that painting is very very subjective and this is a real reason at the very core of my ideologies why we as competitive display painters should never ever feel the lows of not placing as its all SUBJECTIVE....and I'm partial to her cause she rocks .one of the best painters and my all time favorite......REM if you go to comp to WIN ..THATS The MINDSET WE ALL HAVE AND THATS GREAT IT SHOULD BE THAT MINDSET.BUT IF YOU HAPPEN TO NOT MAKE one of the placings...juuuuuuuuust take a look around at the other folks..you'll be in SOME QUOTE GIFTED COMPANY..I CAN GURANTEE this. ;)

It's a good philosophy to have BAM. :) I mean - you guys are competing against painters whose skills are jaw-dropping, because yours are too. As with any competition you can only try your best and see what happens. Your ability to influence the outcome stops when you've finished painting. Then it's up to the judges to try and choose between the gorgeous works on display. It's difficult to remember all of this at the time though....
