Very nice shields, BAM. Love how the squad turned out

You know, just because I'm painting a pirate, doesn't mean you have to too!
Hey I got some pirates to start too, a 75mm historical and the BS orcs, not to mention that pirate Ogre I started about 5 months ago. Everyone is feeling the pirate love!

Raiders look terrific. I'm interested to see how you work those shields into the bases (if I understand your plan correctly).
The pirate already looks interesting. Another perfect canvas for you to paint a grimy, storm-beaten warrior.
And the finger- is that drybrushed or wet-in-wet on the nail?

YYes Mr great old one...lol I'll need some feedback when it comes to where I'll fasten them to the movement tray.I have gotten much further on my pirate wait until you see how this thing is turning out ...dare I say it's my finest..lol and oh yeah b4 I forget when painting a 1:1 scale of a thumb it is important to strictly use layering to get the dirtiest of thumbs..lol thanks toad.

To right "man the cannons!" He's looking great mate. Have you thought about a little pattern on the bottom of his waistband the part that dangles down to the shin/ knee. Just a couple lines and squiggles to say look close more at 1st glance.

Very nicely done on the face. I really like how the pirate is coming along. Just a couple very minor suggestions... first, like I told BFK on his project, how about a subtle purple or blue glaze in the shadows for the bags under the eyes? I'd concentration this towards the inside corners and then just a little touch on the outside corners. Of course here it's a 54mm, not a 90mm or a bust so those tiny details can be tricky. It's up to you whether you think it's achievable on this scale and worth a shot. Second, the stubble is very dark. I think it works for this character though. You might consider blending in a bit more of the regular skintone as the chin goes up to meet the lower lip. Again, this is all pretty minor stuff. The figure doesn't need any of that, just something for you to think about.

No problem.

And I agree with Canny, a little detail on the bottom of the cloth would be nice. It can just be a few lines like this one http://www.puttyandpaint.com/projects/6499 . You've got quite a bit of freedom in coming up with a design. I did a quick search of pirate figures on P&P, when people do patterns on pirates they seem to be mostly very simple. You can look through the Andrea box art in their pirate series and the figures on CMON for inspiration as well.

Ok so a pattern it is .. You guys are the best here's my new improved Spanish pirate ... Purple in inner top of bridge of nose where eyes meet bridge and in the wrinkles if the outer corners if eyes and flesh blended on upper chin as approaches lip. I have a design in mind already you guys are phenomenal and this is why our close knit forum family walks away with many awards. Goooooollllldddddeeen.

Coming along really nicely BAM. It is honestly a pleasure to come here for updates (and your crazy typing! :p). I always learn something, plus there are great paintjobs to drool over.

I sometimes can't believe painters of your, ten ball, Bailey, Dragonsreach's calibre and experience consistently take the time to help out a novice paint splatterer such as myself. I am amazingly lucky. And you guys all rock!
