Someone asked me how I came to paint the way I do in a message so besides sending her a PM I thought IDE state it here again because its good to know why artists do and what their after. Guys I made a decision a very long time ago, 5 years out of my almost 25 years doing this craft. It's actually the reason I set out to come and register on cmon and the forums. Everybody sees their first model and gets that oooohhhhh!!! Feeling. It can be a comic style or a realist approach(not so much factual but more lifelike with effects) so I started and looked at those artists that I loved I bought literature and spoke to people mainly baily. His I feel is the most realistic. Basically there are 2 main types and many hybrids if these two types. For a style to develop you can 1) see where practice and research takes you . Many folks develop this way or you can do that and never stop trying to emulate and develop what you've seen that made you live it that much. I didn't invent my current style. However every one of my models haste textured leather and garments, along with 2) scratches and scrapes (dripping with blood as in a fresh open would, dirtied up, and corroded , tarnished metals, and blood and bruises. This I did invent in that order in every single model. When I see others doing it it gives me a HUUGE reaffirmation people like what they see. So in a nutshell- YOU'LL ALL BE ABLE TO READ NORE WHEN MY FIGURE PAINTERS MAGAZINE article comes out entitled "motivation!".
I want to be able to have the viewer feel that my models are "TINY LIVING ENTITIES" rather than technically perfect MODELS WITH PAINT ON THEM!!!btw in still learning how to get these to work better and better. Does that mean ill never paint a high elf... YES that's exactly what it means:/ lol
