You know it's probably good a time to bring this up since darthmarsh has opened up some mental wounds for me regarding the fly 2 . Anybody else cry when the poor of/fly thing came out of its chamber to eat the oatmeal. That has always made me feel sad. Sad like when I was you get my mom helped me wrote to Hollywood asking if the dog/fly to be aspired by me to take care of. Yes still have the letter . Lets just say these things affect kids.lol I know pathetic.

Dude why the hell were you watching the fly when you were wee kid! I mistakenly watched Alien when I was 8 years old and didn't sleep for about a month (my brains boogeyman is still the xenomorph)

OK the truth is I watched the exorcist as my first movie with my mom rest her soul she was a horror movie buff. And it was Texas chainsaw Fri 13th and all the other goodies but my boogeyman was george a Romero dawn of the dead 3 times I went in to watch it very you and 3 times I waked out crying the minute the black dude bit the women and tore her neck out. I guess I learned to love em witch led me to making some monsters of my own through miniature painting. Lol

Ah, lol, the childhood trauma's of 80's horror flicks. We're all afflicted. :D

But dude... are you seriously saying that you painted those 4 minis in just 9 hours? Then I need your time-dilation device, because it took me 9 hours just to black out the details on 10 marines, and I think this week it took me around 4-5 hours just to basecoat 10 helmets yellow with an airbrush...

Started to work on my goblin pirate from leben models.View attachment 31508View attachment 31509View attachment 31510 so I'm starting this next bust. Another thing I paint well is busts cause 1) I enjoy painting them and the first rule of thumb is paint things you like. Number two it's green and we know how I live that and 3) it really fits my style of subtle shades and highlights as I've said it's just enough shading and just enough highlighting to have the color gradation work in a realistic way. I know the fact is 28 mm models need to have the contrasts pushed to exaggerate the shadows and highlights so the miniature can appear to catch the shades and light the way a human sized figure looks. But the more you move away from the heroic scale in to the 120 mm sized scale the more your at liberty to use the least co tastes and shadows. As you'll eventually see when the bust is done. Stay tuned folks . Now 1 more thing I may be explaining this wrong but it's my perspective and that's how I'm seeing it. So it's just another way to paint a model.

Again I wanted to show you 1) what's in my work bench these are for my personal collection and 2) got a Lil more shading done . I dilute my glazes with a favorite medium call Lahmian medium it's by GW and again if mixed right it should give you a very flat Matt finish even over powering the gloss of the ANCIENT citadel inks.

So for the death guard CSM I start with a mornfang brown undercoat then paint on the ( armor) Gretchen green , and the (flesh) rakarth flesh. The whole model including the head of the bust is give a light color wash of (p3) sanguine red/Gretchen green 50:50 mix and Lahmian medium the added to a 90 %/10% mix over the whole model skin and armor. Then 50:50 Baal red/ogryn flesh or (riekland fleshshade) . And this is applied over and over just in the recesses leaving the previous colors .

The skin on the goblin bust is painted this exact way as the deathguard armor I've been working on. You can see the bust above starting to I the sift as I won't go really dark until the next stage and again that darkest color is applied like a glaze over and over, making sure the previous is dry not to over work the area, before applying the next layers of shades which will be 1:1:1 of calo black ( p3) agrax earthshade , and leviathan purple laid into the eyes the lines in the face and the underneath horizontal parts where light dont reach. Stay tuned.
