Demi you hit it on the head.the painting is soo subjective I wanted a feeling of somber eyes to the sky.I wasn't sure if I pulled it off its all in how you paint the model brows big straight with a small curtail up the thickness of the eyebrows the positioning. After I touched the dead dude and believe me guys I would've administered car if he was alive but the mangled body the severity if the accident..and the age of the man was truly against me...so when I came in I decided why not fashion a viking surveying the conquoted battlefield and realizing is all the death of one's kin worth it all the bloodshed the same thing we ask ourselves today...thanks for noticing my first real execution at a grieving man instead of a hardened veteran.I also put a small bundle of bones..scaled down maybe a small boy who knows let the frozen scene make each of us explore the carnage of our ancestors and give us all something to think bout...you don't know how happy you made me..that you noticed this big achievement I did it with purpose a specific look ...woo hoo I've evolved as a painter . Talk to you folks soon I gotta go give my monthly donation at the blood donors.some bodys living because of Me and that feels really good inside.

You're just knocking these entries out left and right. That bust is amazing and the Saxon came out great. I really like the skin on the Dark Age model, I tried doing albino like skin on a few models and it never turned out quite right, but you don't seem to have that problem.

hat I used on the skin fluisterwould was base midland flesh ,shade midland flesh and skorstore red than I added another deep wash only in the recesses and that was flesh wash ,all these are privateer press p3 paints.,then added some battledress green to bring down all the reds and warmth then I highlighted with Ryan flesh then polished bone and finally scarce glazes of white..then brought it all back down with two extra thinned glazes of battledress green. Done one pallid flesh.I use Raphael Karrill sy the tic sizes 2@ 3 with are for 2 brush blending the synthetic fibers of the brush are thicker enabling them to hold more wet paint longer before drying others use drops of drying retarded to turn their acrylics to oils basically ..you can do it either way.I prefer a synthetic brush and a dry well pallete.then for eyes detail I use a size 2 or 3 windoor newton as the point is finer and more stiff to give me control over the details like dots in the eyes (thanks demi) and teeth blood spatter..I've been done with small brushes for awhile now.these are tips anybody can try .2 brush blending takes alot of practice for meg maples to get proficient at it it was 8/day for 6 months as that's how and what privateer press prefers when painting their studio models so she had to go back and basically relearn how to apply this method ..so I Def condone this method it's fast it's great in the results of smoothness it gets etc etc.

Look really close guys I've taken the gamble and broke up the skin with some varicose veins strewn about random parts of the model eg chest I've mixed a blue with run flesh so they blend with the skin ala demihumans idea also applied them in dotted fashion once again demihumans IDEA . This is what the judges will see upon careful scrutiny of the model.

Wow John looking good, once again I am like WTF man how!? do you paint so fast. Do what you have to do man, we are all different, we all transcend our passion a certain way, you fly trough the projects like super man while I am like traveling trough my head 80% of the time and when I touch down on hearth on the material plane I finally try to recreate my visions. my life as a painter is about 80% dream and 20% material realization LOL I am just a big dreamer... Have a nice xmass you and your family and looking forward to see you continue creating wonders after wonders.

I'm not saying I'm def going to win or even make the cut but somebody just might like what I've done enough to surprise myself. Either way I've tried my hardest with the degree of painting to raise my standards and the list of entries is growing. Here's a sneaky peeky piggly wiggly bada bing bada bang Betty boop!!!

What, you done with Mandible already?! I know you paint full time, but damn, that's speed! I really like the veins, definetly going to adopt that. How did you do it, blue with a little flesh tone, then glaze over it with flesh? Exactly the kind of thing I like to do and that I want to get better at.

The only viable explanation of how you paint so fast is that you MUST be Santa Claus. I mean it makes since...your work is an inspiring Christmas present to all us painters, and who else can do things as fast as you...so no...I am not surprised at how fast you paint anymore because now I know your secret, your real challenge is getting around the world last night and delivering all the presents.....WELL DONE by the way. You probably even made it back in time to paint one more mini before you went to bed too didnt you? :p
