Anytime guys I get back from a tournament or comp I like to relax by painting pieces that aren't the highest standard they are "painted good enuff" for my collection , it's relaxation for me. In a few more WOK models ill start getting to wotk in next years crystal brush entries.. So stay tuned this is still relaxation models as of late.
its nice to paint things without thinking too much about what ur doing. just the act of painting is amazingly relaxing. I'm a bit of a perfectionist though and struggle to relax doing anything lol
Damn it BAM , how come you get to paint so much ? I work 14 hour days ,too tired to paint when I get home and lucky to get a few hours painting on the weekend ....damn damn damn why does work interfere with the thing we actually like to do .?
Love the piggy back dude he's cool
Anytime guys starting now in next years cb it will be in the spirit of my blight kings which me and baily wondered why they didn't win he'll didn't even make the cut but were painted as good as the orks(I was bye the only winner with a GW mini entries) so the models of choice will be the skull reapers ... I'm now thoroughly warmed up after 2 WOK models and ready to go View attachment 36766View attachment 36767
Whoa nice bro, lot of metal me like. Talking about CB I will at least bring a monster (my category of choice) and I will try to bring another one maybe a single in something.
So here it is "the road to crystal brush" starts here now this will be a step by step and things are subject to change and always are but as it stands just like I did with the "ork NOBZ " get em done early so here's the first of many "skullreapers" start with a spray coat of zanduri white. Base color (all p3 paints) are menoth white with midland flesh 50/50 painted on in many thin layers first shade is the base coat with a drop added of "sanguine red" then hit all the recesses and the parts that don't catch light (proper highlight placement is important in comp pieces use your stop sign rule) I'm going with warm times as it is khorne.
stay tuned and feel free to copy my pale flesh recipe... The models above I've stopped after the first shade :ill upload as I go.
we would like to thinks so flu btw congrats again finals are nothing to shake a stick at bud gr8 job I really like the archangel .....oh btw it still will drive us crazy...you know this right....me and baily had the pleasure together chewing our fingers to the bone watching entries come in right up till the very end...very anxiety producing...but hey nothing diff when the shot clock is going down in the 4th at a b ball championship game...competition is competition.....right..right..
I've added coal black to the mix which is balancing out the warm tones.as baily says you need time variation all the crevices do not go all the way down to the deepest shades only the neck area ,under the armpits , the undersides of outstretched arms etc. stay tuned folks
Here's where we left off I've highlighted up to white I'm trying to "push my contrasts" don't know if ill like it or not but it gives me a chance to work in reverse with glazing which I love. Now rem this photo while not super impressive now once the armor and all is done its going to pop so much it will jump out at you rule 1pf competing it has to catch the eye from afar "near / far test.. So make sure there's enough pop =contrast from afar then it gives them a reason to really scrutinize your models.View attachment 36780
After the highlights were applied I went back in under the armpits and the neck and y set side of the outstretched arms and applied coal black The final shade a few glazes will now be applied to tie everything together from the whitest highlights to the darkest shades.
