Lol I know I know krule but I'm putting all my passion into this grot tank. First time competing in vehicle category so I chose the grot tank for two reasons 1) it's small 2) it gets the weathered metals treatment - oh yeah and it has a green skin tank driver and I live green too. So here it is with the driver, much more work to be had and oh yeah a bit of GROT HUMOR !!!View attachment 54743

Love watching the little differences like the beret and flag come together. Excellent work.

Live green brother!

I'm heavily deciding against the grot! There already is a TON of variation why throw more in. Spoke to David (baily) I think the closed hatch will showcase the pure awesomeness of this loud vehicle. No sense beating a dead grot!!!

You always have so much to look at in your works BAM. Do you do all of the freehand, well, freehand? Or; do you use masking tapes and things like that? (looks fantastic, btw)

Well thank you boguz!!! Bye live scotch myself. Tulamar few is what my poison is. Now let me answer your question. First off thanks again bud. As for the freehand hmmm on this vehicle all the chevrons(bumblebee stripes) the evil sun icons, and the large ultramarine badge on the models left side(it's left) ive done myself. I always do the chevrons by eye(why? Hmm because its like an autopilot thingie with me. It's how I've always done them. If someone hasn't IDE suggest a ruler. It's very easy that pencil shows up on the paints basecoat. Another example is the suns and ultramarine badge I've stated out with a dime(US currency) made a circle and then the outlining of the wrinkles then the shading and highlighting just like on a model. Best advice I can give is when doing these use a very light pressure on your paintbrush and draw in these parts Lil by Lil .;)

This is coming along splendidly, brilliant stuff. I agree with using a closed hatch instead of the grot, let all the focus be on the tank itself.

The tank its impressing with all those metal textures and scratchings. I would say closed hatch also. ^^
I also see you have corrected the diagonal lines, now I see them perfectly parallel. Anyway.. I would like to point a out a mold line on the base of the main canon, it is on the side of the tank with the little sun, maybe it's just a lighting issue but just telling for you to inspect closer ;)

Love it mate. A suggestion; where the ultra marines logo is I reckon those pesky grots would of painted a red cross through the logo? (it would be a risky to paint over the freehand ?)

Thanks so much maenas and tenball, you guys are amazing.

maenas I think I see it I'll correct that today.
tenball, I actually thought amongst those same lines I was gonna give a circle / slash (ghostbusters) over it. Than I got really scared a cold foot...I wish I was better at the freehand and I wouldn't be so scared to try these things. But I was thinking along those line ten..def agree with you just scared to do so.:/ lol

I think it would be very difficult to paint a red "X" or circle and slash due to the shading and weathering already on the model, but maybe some scratch marks could be done. Like the grots took a sword and tried to cut into the metal to cross out the logo.
