Great question !! Yesss!!!tarnish anything if steel is underneath like a car . the browns wikl work great for blue armor no question bout it. Only thing I might do diff is use chipping of a lighter blue for new chips and dark brown (scorched brown) for darker ones. The way you apply chipping is always under debate which is better. Answer: their all great and I've used them all but the easiest and most effective in my experience being a"weatherman" lol is to use a sponge taken from one of your old blister packs or rib off a (a corner) of that same foamy sponge material that comes with your carrying cases. Thin down your paint(a bit not too much, a but thicker as it helps hold the shape of the chips better) use a corner or an point of the sponges stuff dip it in the light blue or brown and then using a dabbing motion apply it to your palette to see if you like the pattern (should look something like small fleks and a bigger flek in their. Keep dipping and dabbing until your happy with your pattern the apply it to the figure. Less is more and hit places like the edges of the armor . After all said and done apply mithril silver to random parts of the edging of let's say the shoulder pads of the ultramarine. Viola if you wanted to take it further you can add bestial brown or dark flesh streaks (this simulates where water has gotten into the crack rust formed and the drip of the streak carried some rust color down by gravity.;)

You know it !!! I had none of this growing up painting. So when I realized 3 years ago not only to take advantage of the things offered today. But to have those and myself and my skills be taken advantage of as well!!!

Aha! I was hoping you were going to do the other grot tanks. Didn't want to mention it while you were doing the other one just in case you thought I thought you weren't working hard enough.

LOLOLLL thanks guys I ussually pick ultramarines- right now the yellow chevrons on the last evil suns tank and on this bad moons tank is strictly because blue and yellow are compliments where by def they both contain as a whole all 3 primary colors of the spectrum which plainly makes them work well next to one another.
as for the sponge tech you can see it as the little brown chips in the yellow parts of the chevron lines.. The blue has chainmail done almost like the doing (a dabbing motion) only diff is I wanted bigger paint chips and weathering so instead of a sponge (on the yellow) I used a medium basecoat brush wiped it off on a napkin as if I were drybrushing and then I dabbed it basically in the same stabbing motion like with a sponge only used a brush in this case for bigger marks of paint degradation.

Even better freehand around! that yellow moon is killer, looks like an old style tatoo! hahaha ;)

In that case what you'll need
1) basecoat chainmail
2) wash in nuln oil or black paint diluted. Not one wash but about 4 I do this 4 on all my washes getting less and less diluted as you approach the recesses and deepest shades.
3) wash in the cracks Bestial bbrowns ash in then with vermin brown and put random dabs of this wash in puddles at various random parts of the model.
5) chainmail and mithril highlight
6 ) add mithril in a Lil more at a 1:1 2:1 3:1 ratio
8) using just mithril outline any edge highlighting and outlining of the shapes as well.
8) using a extremely diluted agrax earthshade glaze (but as a wash) the entirety of the armored area. When fine add scratches in mithril silver plus a bit of white .. Diff directions and diff lengths.
9) redeveloped HL all edgings and shapes and viola!!!

And thanks a million for sharing that sbs weathering metallics...

Yes! Another claptrap gobbo tank. Nice choice. And nice freehand on the big moon. Your style is perfectly suited to goblin aesthetics!

So now can you do a complete step by step for how to be as good a painter as you?

Freehand looks great by the way. Forgot to mention earlier

Thanks foxy toad meanas and flu: GOLDIE HAWN GOLDEN- but young Goldie HAWN !!! :) :/
FOXY if there are anything as far as questions IDE be glad to help if u can .this can be about blending ,color scheme ,contrast and of course weathering. How to be a good painter. You all are already great painters as far as getting better... It's the same answer when someone in New York asks "hey taxi , how do you get to Carnegie hall?" ...and the can guy answers -PRACTICE-.in my 5 years on CMON you all can see going back to 2012 .. Since then I've posted in my gallery 167 models the last 2 years however I've had a HUUUGE surge in my ranking and increased my number if models appearing in the cmon annual by(x10) 3 models to 36 models I believe in the last years annual. I've increased my P&P ranking from 120 to the top 40 and win 8 more awards. You'll see all my models have a shift in the quality from the last 2 years... This is 1) do to these forums and the other big reason is solely painting vast quantities of miniatures . The more models passing through the hands the more you have those A-HA moments and that is solely how one gets better. When I was a fighter it was 100s of hours upon 100s of hour how I perfected my punch power, my hand speed , footwork etc.. It all comes down to a model I use that never changes..research , practice, research some more and practice again go go go with this until you get better . You'll know it when the bulb goes off and you say A-HA that's what they mean.

As I said earlier any questions ill answer- re answer and re re answer until it clucks for anybody interested!!!;)

As my martial arts instructor puts it, "It is a constant refinement of skill," which can apply to pretty much anything that you set your mind to.

That's pretty much the best way I've ever heard it put and most definitely can and SHOULD be applied to any and everything.;)
Well said young man.
