NOTE: Due to U4\'s comment I replaced the picture with an even newer on. The link will take you to the latest picture now.

Allright I now have a photo of the finished product up for your approval (or disapproval, but I hope there\'s not much of that).
Check HERE and tell me what you think please.

OK guys I was really getting tired of painting orcs for a while so I\'ve been working on a HE Character. I\'ve been trying really hard on this guy, may be too hard, but at any rate I am BEGGING for feed back.;)

it is gone...

I glanced at that last night, and had meant to leave a comment it was a WIP high elf, and was looking pretty cool.

I wonder if Brian yanked it, or something else happen, because I couldn\'t find it in his gallery either....

???

I think that Brian must have pulled the pic, cos it\'s not in his gallery. \'Tis a pity cos I was wondering if it\'s the same \"Iron Wind\" High Elf I\'m doing for Darthfoley.
The figures got a \"Hard/Tight ass\" expression which was great to paint.

Normally, I\'m all for forum posting.

But this is a mini that will soon be mine, mine, all MINE, precious, and we can\'t waits, no we can\'t...

:)

First it was rejected

Then I put another picture up but that one was pretty big and grainy so I tried to make a smaller more focused picture, but didn\'t have much luck so I put the best photo I could back and it must have been rejected again. :~( But I\'ll get it back up soon, THEY cant stop me forever, whoever THEY are! :moon:

Oh, I forgot, Thanks a million Supervike. :)

I think the pic is a bit too dark and grainy to judge your work properly, but from what I can see it looks good!

Update

NOTE: This post was edited with the link changed to a new picture due to U4\'s comment below.

Thank you Astonia, but now I\'ve removed the WIP in progress photo and have the finished product.
Check HERE. The first post has been edited so that you can connect from there as well.
I think he could pass for a dark elf, anybody agree?

Seriously, man, get yourself a real digital camera with macro mode, or borrow one, or something. No wonder your pics keep being refused, one can\'t see anything. Out of focus, small, washed-out, swallowed in a white halo (probably pushed brightness too far up), you name it. No offense, but people can only comment on what they see, and with that pic, the only thing you\'ll get is \"It looks like it could be good (which it does), but please post a better pic so we can see some detail.\"

I\'m probably coming off as pretty harsh, and for that I apologize, but you have a serious picture problem here.

Brian,
You have a great start. Don\'t let anything said here discourage you. We honestly are trying to help.

The gem in his breastplate looks above good.

The horse\'s armor looks pretty good. The nmm gold is not quite there yet. A bit too copper or bronze right now. Go for a yellow/brown base - less red. And put some brighter yellow highlights on the gold.

The horse looks pretty good. But a white horse for an evil elf lord?

The white gloves are too white, as are the bones. Skeletons are only white in biology labs. Find a set of old bones in the woods and they are brown/yellow to brown/black.

Your painting looks pretty neat. As U-4 said, a better camera would help us give better comments and help your scores.

OK, now we have beat up your painting and bruised your ego (hope not). Don\'t feel bad, this is meant to help. Come on over to the off-topic forum and I\'ll buy you a pint.

Still not perfect photo, but getting there. Thanks to airead for smoothening the edge to my post, I was having a bad evening ( :flame: computer acting up :flame: ).

You chose all the hardest colors : white, black, and red. lol But looks like you used the right colors for the shading and highlighting, so that\'s cool. There\'s darklining, the paint is within the lines, you even have gems (which look great, btw). So in my book that\'s already above tabletop.

It looks like you need to work on the blending. It looks a bit stark on the red. The key to blending, whatever technique you want to use (look at the articles for those) is to thin your paints. A lot. And then some more. You want each layer to let the one underneath show through.

The black armor needs some highlighting too ; just picking out the edges and armor lines isn\'t quite enough. Try placing a light above your mini, and look where the light falls : these are the places you need to highlight. Don\'t be surprised if it\'s hard, highlighting black is a b!tch. Try to use some blue in the mix for contrast and a colder feel - also, I think adding blue makes highlighting easier than just adding white. In fact, I find it\'s easier to think of black as dark grey (or blue) with pure black shadows, instead of black with grey highlights.

The sword looks a bit plain, maybe a few highlights would help. The stirrups look wierd in white ; they\'re usually metallic. The white looks ok, but would benefit from some blending.

As for the gold, airhead got me confused. I though it was metallics you used. Oh well, in any case, he\'s right, it needs some highlights. Try lighter golds and finish with silver if you\'re using metallics ; go through yellow to pure white if doing nmm.

Right, I think I covered all I saw, hope it helps.
