Sionid's Clean Your Plate WIP Thread

Whoops! actually I do kind of use buddy, mate, dude, folks, guys, gentleman, ladies etc for both genders at work all the time. I love watching the momentary looks of confusion on the faces of a group of women when I say 'Gentleman what can I get you'

I concur! The moment of confusion and that look of dawning comperenshion is hilarious, when you intentionally call a girl, 'dude' at work.

On to the next thing:

This is gonna be a tabletop mini for use in actually playing Infinity for the fiance's Combined Army. He has his own armor scheme going on, but the skin will me more or less the studio deal:

It sort of toes the line between body paint and exposed muscle...should be fun!

All right! Infinity! Look out for flash on the end of the gun, on that little stud sticking out. I have to get some picts up on my wip!

OK sis you must have a spine the size of the earth. You seem to have a knack of not only painoting well but a knack of picking these crazy detailed complex models. I've never played a infinity game. So you'll have to let me know if it's fun. But the infinity range are all works of art and each one is a project require g more than a few hours work. So good luck I'm sure it's going to be another award wining potential model from ya. I'll be checking back in time to time to deliver my 2 cents and try to sound smart and experienced but I'll say this if nothing I see needs critique I'll simpley say "looks smackin. "

Demi, yeee! I haven't painted near enough Infinity for how much I like the minis. She definitely needs more cleanup and some gap-filling. And yessss, you do!

Blood, thanks! Your thoughts are always appreciated :) The game is fun, very quick and responsive instead of the massive armies and hour-long turns that happen in 40k and sometimes Warmachine. Plus there's some really neat terrain being made for it, it all feels very Mass-Effecty and shiny and fun.

DMcc, I'm guessing you're not talking about the, ah, stark minimalism of the morat lady's base--doya mean the troll mage? If so, thank you!

Guys I think we're just gonna burst the bubble. She won't say it so I will just to see how awkward we can all feel. Me sionid our buddy is of the OTHER GENDER. SIONID IS A FEMALE. Lol I made the same mistake darthmarsh call ing her buddy . Figured IDE just say it again to make everyone feel awkward .

Whoop, the jig is up :p (it's no big deal. Everyone is "dude" to me.)
Heh heh, well played. Not enough female painters in the world, too many old grey haired overweight dodgy characters like me.
Time for fresh perspectives and gender bias/barrier destruction.

Couldn't agree more, DR.

Too much painting for class, not enough for hobby. Got a really basic start on this tonight. Red skin is weeeiiird. Right now she looks like she's carved out of Red Hots.

That is an image i cannot get out of my mind. The big difference i see is you are going to an orange/yellow highlight which suggests more of a magma to me as opposed to the box art going to pink which as you said suggests exposed muscle. I like your direction and the final effect will depend on the colors used on the remaining mini.

Krule, yeah, I think you have the right of it. might try and tone down the orange, red seems to be a tricky color for me.

My, uh. My finger slipped...

Stupid sexy librarians.

Damn that's the first one I'm tempted to buy.
The rest have all been.."Nice Sculpt but not my Brew of Choice".

I am with you on that DR. I look at their sculpts and say "cool", but would not be tempted to buy most off them. This one is nice and should fit Sionid's style well.

Red skin is weird? What is up with her hat? :) Maybe little white in the highlight like K B said. I just got my Joan of Arc ready for primer.

Heheh, I guess "weird" isn't the word to be throwing around when it comes to aliens with funny hats--what I meant is that it's harder than I thought!

DR, Krule, I know what you mean. KD has gorgeous details and flowing shapes on some minis and clothing made of genitalia on others. Actually, it's not always mutually exclusive. Zany stuff.

I really like the colors you're using. Nicely done and good luck in the challenge (and with your slides)!

That is coming out so bloody well already! You really have that smooth anime shading and feel going. I love that you are doing all this with no airbrush too. Hopefully, I can finish prepping mine this week and get to painting asap!
