Right? Except apparently with this whole graduation thing they sort of expect you to find a career afterwards. I'm willing to work hard, I just wish I knew what area to be focusing my efforts on. Bleh.

Aaand this evening's work on the cloak (here's hoping I still like it in the morning and haven't just bunked up a couple days' worth of work):
oooh cloak and base are looking awesome! I am excited to see some better pictures!

Chaos Spawn, pms won't let me attach images so here's the ogre for you:
Use the image however you want, including cropping and resizing, just please do credit me! Just "painted by Katie Martin" or whatever would be fine. I can post the two images separately and at different resolutions if you'd like.
Edit: uh, don't mind frankengirl down there. Dunno how she got there...

SkelettetS, thanks! Now I'm wondering whether to incorporate stippling elsewhere into the mini or if that would be overkill. On highlights, it has the effect of making things look a little glitzy, but maybe that'd unify the cloth areas? Hmmm.

How many entries are you working on for CB? I got 3 on my plate so far, but should be finished up with 2 of them soon.. If I have time, I might try to get a fantasy and maybe a squad entry ready.. Not sure if the shotgun approach will work, but I figure that the more pieces I can finish, the more feedback I can get at Adepticon.. Hopefully some of it will sink in. Are you taking any classes at Adepticon?

I'm entering as many categories as I can complete. So far, definitely large scale, single figure fantasy, and single figure sci fi, and I have minis for fantasy & sci fi units (Confrontation and Infinity stuff). The nice thing about hoarding unpainted minis is that I have a lot of options, eheh....if I have time, I have a diorama idea in mind, too. It's a little intimidating, but it might be awesome if I can pull it off.

Sculpting Armatures and Anatomy (hopefully--waitlisted)
Composition: Value, Space, and Color

That's cool.. so far I have large scale, single sci-fi and single historical.. Yeah, I hear ya, I have tons of options as well..
I took that OSL class last year and it was the best one in my opinion. Victoria had both overhead slides and actual pieces demostraiting the effect. Are you doing the Friday night lecture of the Display and Competitive painting? If so, I will see ya there.. The others that I'm taking are:
Painting Flesh and Faces
Painting Transparent Cloth
TNA
Liber Metallica on Sunday morning.
Please let me know how you like that Composition one, that seemed interesting to me as well, but I didn't pull the trigger..

Khonner if your lucky, call them rocks. I made some of them for a river bed!
All those courses sound amazing! If I could only make a teleporter to get myself there. If I start rowing now I might make it for next year. I enjoyed the miniature Mentor video on Plague Lord Festus delt with the rust sculpting and decay he added and painted.
2BB is fantastic super fast to lay down colour transitions but I have also come to love the loaded brush.

I'm with you there, Khonner. Heard somebody compare it to sculpting with chewing gum once. Accurate.
Digga, the class is called "Lose the Fear: Introduction to Green Stuff Modeling" on Saturday at 7:30pm. Says the event description:
"The class will be taught by Joe Orteza, 14-time Golden Demon winner and formally trained fine arts teacher. Students will learn to utilize “green stuff” Kneadtite epoxy sculpting putty for miniature model embellishment and basic sculpting.
Students will learn different aspects of figure conversion, from basic to Advanced embellishment. The class will also touch on figure enhancement through the pose of the figure, basing, and the theme of the model. Joe will discuss different techniques from single display models to large units.
Students will receive (4) hand-picked sculpting tools (wax #5, spike-pick, GW tool, and Joe’s favorite spear-spade tool), (1) tweezers, (1) pen, (1) glass sculpting surface, (1) hobby knife with extra blades, (1) cork, a length of armature wire, and an instructional pamphlet as part of the course fee. The armature wire and cork will provide the basis for the introduction to sculpting a complete model."
Canny, I'm excited! But yeah, stupid oceans and lack of sufficiently advanced technology. I'd be at those Golem painting courses if I could.
