Sionid's Clean Your Plate WIP Thread

Maybe you can risk using a Dremel or similar tool to kill the bubbles? You might break it, but if it is ruined anyway... You should be able to sand it down in an hour or two (just don't breathe that dust!), and then you can try to play around with the tricks from Zab and Demi.

That being said, you all have scared me away from any huge resin projects. I'm even worried about the shallow swamp bases I am planning on doing. :p

The girls are looking great though!

That figure is deadly gorgeous. Wow.

As for the resin, from the pictures the bubles at the left around the post look like natural buubles that apoear from pulling something out of the mud of the bottom...maybe darken it up in that area, add some foam as suggested, and a couple tentacles snaking up the post. The bubble to the right look wrong...what about covering with some lilly pads?

I think the resin is totally salvageable. get out the dremel and grind away what you don't want. Then you could just pour another layer of resin into the void you create. Since you cant see the resin from the side you won't be able to tell there were two pours.

Cute Cat Names:

Dremel
Windsor
Newton
Kolinsky
Haley
Smooshers

or you could name it after a Primarch:

Ferrus Manus
Fulgrim
Vulkan
Rogal Dorn
Roboute Guilliman
Magnus the Red
Sanguinius
Lion El'Jonson
Perturabo
Mortarion
Lorgar
Jaghatai Khan
Angron
Corax
Alpharius Omegon

If you add Professor or Mr. to any of those you should be good to go :) I think "Lion El Jonson" (!) is pretty much the crowd favorite.

Zab can go cry in the corner, I'd buy her a drink or ten :) Her hair is so pretty.

Mitty Kitty, Neko Recko (neko is Japanese for cat i think, and most cats can wreck anything), from the top of my head.
I assure, you I am doing exactly that -_-
We are working on cat names now for the fall when we get kittens.

Previous names: Vegas, milo, samantha. tabitha, muffy, tuffy

Friends cat we recently baby sat: smurf (furf when the agent of chaos was little and couldn't say smurf) and footie short for lightfoot, as in Gordon.

Names under consideration for the new kittens:
Attilla, genghis, horus, donut, banana, doom...

When we get a cat--which we will--it is pretty much definitely going to be named "Donut." Either that or Imperator Furiosa.

It's a name for the necromancer's kitty that I need. The piece will be entitled something like "The Resurrection of Cuddlewumps" or "The Tenth Life of Mr. Fuzzyboots." Ideally, if it turns out well and if anyone would be remotely interested in purchasing it, I'd like...auction it off and give the money to a local shelter. We recently had a really sad experience with a very sick abandoned kitten, so making this silly idea happen is weirdly cathartic.

Demi--you're right, Russ should be saved for the dog :p I'm admittedly kind of losing my shit at the idea of shaking the food bowl to summon wee fluffy Rogal Dorn...

As for taking a dremel to the resin: did do a test in which small amounts of resin were poured over a variety of messed up surfaces in cured resin to test options. Scratches and shallow cuts disappeared, but marks from the dremel were still visible. I'll probably give it a shot anyhow, it's not really gonna ruin it worse. And then the wave solution is still viable. I really appreciate the brainstorming, guys.

Thanks Coyote! She's at the head of the group.

Needs a doorhandle, but this second-best base is nearly done:

...now I just have to finish the pirates.

Wonderful stuff, just wonderful.

I seem to recall you saying that the bricks were a little flat? You were right, and I appreciate the feedback. I lightened up some of the upper bricks a good bit in hopes of upping the contrast. Does this seem better?

Also, I got this little lady in the mail--gonna paint her up for Marike's Rainbow Brush competition. A cause that's close to my heart and the opportunity to make a challenging scheme work (every color of the rainbow!)? Sooooo excited.

I actually re visited the picture and deleted what I put because I had a re think. I should have left it in as the little highlights make all the difference.
they now seem to have a feel to them whereas before my initial thought was brickwork wallpaper !
Delighted I can help someone of your standard.

Base is absolutely killer. I'd make it maybe a bit busier with some accessories. Maybe a few crates or some
rubbish. But you've done a great job adding contrast to it. Also
the door needs a knob and some hinges. The latter are very easy to make with some super thin plasti. Can even cut into interesting designs.

Looking great. I think the brickwork is to uniform, maybe shade a few random bricks a slightly different colour?

I don't know i think you will have no problem with the rainbow brush challenge. You seem to be doing well breaking away from your favored palette with the pirates already :)

I am sorry for that resin incident too, but I think you can perfectly solve it with the suggestions that many have given ;) I share the though of someone who said that one of the groups of bubbles looked natural, it seems the foam that is formed when the waves form when they hit/break into something.

On the wall of bricks I see the second version much more better, but I share that adding a bit of shadows will improve it more.

Those ladies and the gang that goes on to the brick wall base are really good!!

Oh! and on the cat names:
Lickers, Cathulu (Lovecraft homage intended) , Azrael (smurfs's bad cat), Mittens (sort of typical maybe?), Bastet (Egyptian goddess with cat head)
