Sister of Battle-painting journal.

Hi.
My name is Mark and this is the first time I have painted a Sister of Battle (SoB).
What I intend to do is paint a section/part of her and post an image here.
After each post I will leave myself open to questions,responses,hints,tips,requests etc etc.
I know that recently Tammy has done this with her paintathon and very good it was,and I cant wait for others.Im not going to try to emulate her painting skills or time scale.Its just a bit of fun really where you lot can join in a bit.A few of you will say I already do this by posting wips in the forum recently.
Anyway, here is the first image.She is a sister superior and Ive filed down the chainsword to a normal sword,(I hate those chainswords).I undercoated grey for the first time and washed with very thin chaos black.As you can see Ive done the face.GW dark flesh,Vallejo beige red,basic skintone,ivory.Eyes are ivory with black ink pupils.I would like to do the hair blonde to break from the norm black and Im open to suggestion for the rest.

Is this a one off? If it is then I suggest breaking from the norm a little.

How about a major transition red (ie from black to yellow) for the cloak and a nice deep blue for the armour? Or maybe reverse that so the red is for the armour? Then for the swrod you could do it glowing green (OK maybe that is a bit too far )

Yes she is a one off and Id like to do something earthy as apposed to the coloured armour.I fancy doing the main \"robe\" a dark leather and maybe a deep red for the armour with gold nmm trim.The power sword maybe green looking as if its glowing from inside

Klute you could be in luck If your staying in this country I hear summer is going to be on sunday afternoon between mid day and 4.30pm. Anyway take your paint ? I did try for a week up in Northumberland two weeks ago.

I was thinking (there\'s a first!) Why not try something completely different and have White armour with a blue-ish shadow cast?

Ha yes I did the eyes and was going to do blue iris\'s but looked at the photo and though no they look pretty good.With the lippy it gives that Im a hard bitch but Im still wearing make up look.
Anyway heres another update with the leathers nearly done,scorched brown then layered up to bestial browm with bleached bone added for highlights.Nmm on the buttons is chaos black,fortress grey,skull white.
The armour has had a basecoat of red gore which will be layered up to blood red.
Ive undercoated the hair to do blonde but Im liking the white look.
Sorry Mike the white armour sounded good but Id already ploughed into her.Do you think the white would go with the leather,I could change the red??

No I wouldn\'t change her now, she\'s starting to have a very good look to her.
Looking at this so far, you\'ve kept to the same colour temperature range, Reds / Browns. In order to keep the strength of the mini, I think that you could consider that the Fleur-De-Lis, & all the finials and doohickies should stay in the Brown/Yellow area of the spectrum.
I guess I\'m saying Gold NMM.

Gold nmm order of the day and Im sticking with the red.
Should there be sky earth on her though??
Im not sure.Its all gold trim on the red armour with silver and gold for the bolter.
Sword handle gold.Ill see what colour for the blade at the end to see what matches.It has to be glowing though.

Should there be sky earth on her though?? I don\'t know about the armour, with it being red. But you could always use a Faux Horizon line on the armour and save the SENMM for the gold trim.

No horizon on the armour.Normal gold on the trim.Im not too keen on senmm on thin trims.I might go for chrome on the blade if a colour match is tough.
OSL that would be a first??
