This will be good! Those toads are really nice models. Do you find that clamp you are using to hold the mini worth the money? I saw it on here a while back and considered getting one but didnt know whether it was really worthwhile.

Its funny you have the nurgle chaos guy with an axe - I am picking up one I ordered from my local model shop in a few hours lol.

Noooooooo, I had this idea after looking at your toad duel. Just got the chaos guy also. No matter what I do now it will be a poor imitation :silly:

ty folks, this will be a really cool project. love the toadmodels, and that plastic nurgle guy is also an awesome piece. will aim at some more extensive freehand on the shields and banner.

chris, cant say the holders are bad but not sure either that they have done anything revolutionary easier. so all in all, if you got tons of cash saved i say go for it, but you will survive without them for sure...

just the very beginning of paintjob! basecoat elysian green, pretty much exactly the same as old cammo green. my old pot of cammo green is too watery for basecoat though, will save it for glazing later.

begun wetblending... green, purple and red. found it easier than just heading to glazes right away. still this is just the beginning... about 1 hour job so far :)

Looking forward to see this one take shape, very nice big pictures and I like that you show the colours that you have used. Hope to see more step by step pictures on this one :)

thanks folks!

Krulebear; just a fun detail really, found it in a friends bretonnian bitz-box. thought it would add some character. nice balance from all the hooks and spikes and gore, sort of :)

Thanks for posting the WIP with the paint beside it, especially atthis early stage. It really helps us see how you put colours down. Makes me want to get back into my nurgle marines. Keep up the good work - I'll be following this thread with interest (well, to be fair I already follow this thread with interest. I'll be following it with more interest.)

Intreresting, personally I hate the toad model by itself but I think you can do it justice. I still won't like the model but I can always appriciate a quality paint job:).

what empchild how can you not just love these toads! ;)

some new imagery, not much just the same wetblending. another hour painting. not much time to spare for hobby right now.

have to start painting little details black on the backside now i believe, will be horrible later otherwise when trying to reach impossible areas with the brush...

little time to paint, but managed to finish wetblend the whole toad skin areas and to play with glazes on the toads face. still need to work it a bit though. pretty fun :)
shading colors have been red gore and lich purple, highlight cammo green+burbonic brown+white. some glazes with vallejo transparent green and smoke.

Hrmm a solid paint job does make the model start to look a little better. I still can't bring myself to get one but I like where your heading:).

this seems to be one of those minis that every time you put a layer down, you find another detail you haven't seen before. Like the colours choice a lot, Skell :)

ty folks!
some updates, following the colorscheme of my plague bearers, finished most of the toad skin and added some tamiya smoke and clear red.
