locutus- thank you! not sure really. started out with a basecolour of VMC stonegrey, and first shading with VMC dark red, after that im lost really lol... but its some flesh colours, teraqotta, pink, violet, magenta... VMC smoke, GW burbonic brown... some scaly green... ... oh and the blueblack ink in the darkest parts not to be forgotten

thank you TBS, meph and all others above

I paint my thumb.
I'd be nice if you did a step-by-step sometimes, would help us get a clue has to how you work; plus, it'd help you remember what color you used :p

yeah, that would probably help me at least as much as you guys, its a bugger now when im about to start the next rat. not like i have to find the exact same skincolours there luckily, but it would be nice to have them somewhat the same, heh...
the problem is the step by step is going to be like 100 step marathon :D

Skel, you could try just taking a mobile phone pic every time you pick up a new colour. Just a shot of the ink bottle or paint pot with the figure stood next to it. Keep your occasional nice photos for proper updates but you'll have a sequential set that show how you approached it. Montage them together at small size for a not-quite-step-by-step but still have some colour reference for your (and our) future use? :)

Even less time consuming, get a sheet of white paper. Every time you move onto a new colour draw a horizontal stripe of it across a column on the sheet. Column headers being; Flesh, Metal, Leather, Bone, etc. Stick them in a binder as a cheat sheet for future projects where you want to reference previous work. Don't worry about naming each stripe I reckon, should be clear enough from the colour & translucency to work out roughly what they were. Oh, and take a pic of the sheet for us too :)

Cheers, B.

@Skel: didn't abbandon you guys:) I opened a merchant account with Coolmini for my online webstore and something about how they can't have two emails for the same person in there system so they closed out my first account, then I created a new email to open a new one.

number two...

next ogre in line, its the ogre from the screaming bell (?... am i wrong again ragnar? lol) im eager to paint him albino, but lets see how it turns out. ive started with the skin and make it look more pink than the last guy.
some minor conversions. added a tank on his shoulder, a (ogre) meatcleaver at his left arm, a new chain - easter than cleaning and drilling holes the old one..., and new fur to match the last rat.

he is going to be chained in the display, so at the end of his chain there is going to be some bricks. nice to use as weapory too ;)

this is the guy...

B; nice ideas, thank you. i doubt i ever do that though, at least not until i found a more efficient way to paint (and get rid of my laziness). nowdays im happy if i manage two, three updates before the mini is finished hehe
empchild; very glad your still here! :good:

Indeed! It's an uncanny resemblance of your reflection in the shop window of the kebab-bar.

well to be honest tbs, this is pretty much how i imagined you drunk and in action. actually i think im going to call him mich from now on. ye.

...by the way, anyone here have or have seen the hellpit abomination? im curious if the heads and arms there would suit an ogre in size. i have to make someting fun out of the last ogre, as i dont like that model as much as these first two

Really nice sense of strain on that chain Skel, and the tank on his shoulder is the little touch of inspired artistry I most enjoy in these WIP threads. Good work :)

Think im gonna paint something a lil different soon (to give me a break from beast marines) gonna go overboard on the highlights n see how things go, as my painting highlights are usually quite subtle.
