the new display is just a piece of wood, so expect nothing special. but it look more classy and clean, just to show off the minis really.

I dont get why you skipped the base. You should let me photograph and edit your pictures tbh.

Im very disappointed you didnt use that base...................................

Awesome paintjob though.

Darn, I thought that base was the bomb! It looks great. Maybe, just maybe you can do both and put it to a vote to see which one is the most popular. I liked it. Your work speaks for itself. Keep it up. I hope your youngling is letting you do some painting. Good luck.

Shame to lose the base, as I know you've put a great deal of work into it. But, I agree w. what others have already said. The rat ogres did kind of get lost in it, and the nice pinks and purples of their skin tones were nowhere to be seen on the base, which made it seem the two didn't really go together. But hopefully you'll put it to good use somewhere else.

Now let's talk about the real problem: The yellow on those bananas is overwhelming. It could seriously use a good purple wash. :)

Lovely work just utterly lovely... I really do hope you get to a golden demon sometime as you do some gorgous work that should really be showcased more in comp.

Where are you taking these amazing ratses? I think the base makes them, the one pulling down a section of wall will look odd without the display base. Either way, they are amazing!

Wow, that was looking great Skel! A true craftsman though, eh? If it's not perfect it won't do :D

Good on you, I'd have started a dozen different projects by now without completing any, and you've got the oomph to redo a completed display base!? Good man :good:

Looking forward to seeing the new cleaner take. Is this for GD France?

Cheers, B.

thanks for the support folks :good: cant say i redo a display base, as i only use a lacquered pice of wood, so creating the new one wasnt that much of a problem.
these rats are for the german gd in August, if it was for the french i believe i had been in panic right now finishing the remaining two packmasters in three weeks... :D
anyway, some wip pics of the packmaster coming up sooooooon....

khavor; unfortunately the banana cant be found anywhere, so that picture has to be the final pic :(

It sucks about the base but at least you are in semi good spirits about it. Most people would just say screw it. I have to ask where do you store all of your works of art?

yeah, i think the rat pack become sooo much better without that base. ease!
i have nearly all of the miniatures that are published in my gallery in a glass cabinet here at home, dont have the heart to sell anything ;)

Alright so I have a bit of a curiosity regarding your process. You've mentioned before in my WIP thread that you traditionally thin down the paint about 6 to 1. It looks like on all of your pieces you have a nice subtle color transition while avoiding obscuring detail with too think a paint build up. Traditionally how many coats are you laying down on your pieces? I know you mention it takes you 'one zillion hours' to finish lol Don't need specifics just curious how long it takes you to build up that effect with your paints thinned like that.

@savanttheory; dont know how many coats really, but i can tell you its a lot! i also use many different colours in every detail to build up an effect i like. sort of. and everything takes hours to finish, but then im not surrender any detail until i am more or less 100% satisfied.

anyway, little progress. finished the first packmasters little mini-banner. not much space here...
