I've written before about the base tone I normally use for skin being VMC Brown Sand, well in this instance I added a tiny potion of VMC Burnt Umber to darken the overall skin cast so it would look a touch more wind and sea touched.
Shadows are worked with burnt umber added to the basetone. Highlights initially with Brown Sand then Brown Sand and Iraqi sand mix.
I'vs used glazes of VMC Red, Burnt Cadmium Red into the creases, Two brush technique as well as adding a touch of VMC Field Blue to the base coat as a beard shadow.
A mix of basecoat and Yellow Green glazed around the eyes to darken, then glazes of VGC Cobra Brown carefully applied to give a more tanned appearance.
Now my problem is I'm doing all this 'On the Fly" so I'm having to rely on memory for writing out.
