Soum 13 moons

I am a little deep into this one but I have a pretty cool base planned for her. I spent a big part of the weekend on her and every night after work so far. There is still plenty to document on her I just regret I didn't take pictures of the sheer top process. The figure is based off of art work by Luis Royo so I want the painting to reflect a little grit. Let me know what you think so far.

The sheer effect is looking great! I like what you've done with the face better than the box art. It's interesting how something as subtle as the placement of the eyes can have a big effect. In the box art she looks like she's staring at nothing... it just looks off. I much prefer how you moved the eyes to the left. It makes much more sense with her pose and I think it works much better.

Overall very nice work. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the rest. I'm especially curious to see what you have planned for the base

Thanks guys for checking her out. Sheer has become something I really like working on to try and get better at it. i agree Bailey the eyes on the boxart made no sense to me either. There isn't an artwork that looks like this girl it is a colloboration with Jesus Martin of nocturna and Luis Royo to design a series of girls based off his work. It is fully licensed with the Royo's so that makes it even more exciting to look for what is to come. Time to put some more paint on her. Thanks again guys.

well, knowing Royo... some tattoos would help and some blood dripping from the bandage on her arm. Just a couple of ideas.

Those tats he does are so cool too. I'm a fan of his so I have a choice couple of places I may consider a small tat (s). Thanks for the input sir. Now get back on that demon and mistress. I want one of those.

You certainly like painting your girls Milosh. I will be interested to see what base you have lined up :)

yesir 10, I like painting the girlz. There seem to be more and more on the market too. Thanks KB for checking her out.

Well, she is at the point where even a couple hours of work shows little advancement, but there is some. I made these pictures bigger so to see the details a little better on the sheer top and the face. I think you can see the grit I am going for to pay homage to the work of Royo. Most of the work is delicate so no sweeping changes to the first pictures but I worked more on the top and the face and hair.

I started the work on her base.

Drilled the base and inserted the anchors/bones

Started putting the rough shape with aluminum foil

I started covering the shape with A+B epoxy putty (gees, it is a lot)

This is the other little things that goes with her. I checked to make sure the size works by putting them in place.

Now I tile the floor with plaster pieces I broke apart.

I think is is going to take some time to paint this base. That's a lot of tiles to highlite. Maybe I'll paint a Royo pattern on the floor too or maybe another character in the mosaic. I gotta think about this more, tons of possibilities for that mosaic. Got any ideas for me?

Cool stuff. Looks like that might take you a little while.

As for mosaic ideas... the pieces look a little large to do a true mosaic, but I like the idea of some pattern on the floor. I'm trying to draw inspiration from the accessories and, looking at the weird circle thing, I'm picturing a black and white silhouette style bamboo forest. I guess it's easier to show than explain so here's a picture I grabbed that is similar in style to what I'm thinking

You could keep it very nature themed... bamboo, cranes, bridges, etc. Or you could have silhouettes of samurai in battle. If it were me, I'd keep the whole thing black and white and grey. I feel like if you go full color with it the base will distract too much from the figure. Or pick one color like blue (that's a good tile color, right?) and use that and white and maybe black. Once that was done you could go back over with browns and add dirt and stains so it looks like an old floor.

Well, that's what come to my mind. Let's see what other people come up with.

I like those ideas Bailey. In order to keep the gritty look it will need to stay dark like you mention. I really like the samurai idea but also the bamboo and cranes idea. I'll start test sketching to see which one works.

Well 10, if I were smart as you I would have!! Damnit, where were you last night when I could have used advice like this? I'll keep that trick in the vault for the next time I try this.

Ha, why is it the most obvious ideas can be the hardest to see? Yeah, I'll have to remember that idea as well. I'm sure I'll find a place to use it sooner or later.

She's looking awesome. Are you planning to include any tattoos/face paint on her? Royo loves him some body markings, and I kind of love the red stripe they've put under her left eye in some of the art. I think it would enhance this gritty feeling you've got going.

Also, I love the look on her face. She looks utterly unimpressed with whatever's happening around her, and it's perfect.
