Hi Manus, try some ground artists pastels in the recess areas, the military A.F.V. modellers swear by em !

Did some shading in the recesses, not sure how much it shows in the foto :flame:
The wolfpelt is going to be greys on top of some brown.

Looking good. Even though the colour in the recesses isn\'t too clear, it has improved places like the front arc below the head. How about adding a dap of brown or orange below some of those nice bulky rivets to give an even more weathered look? Or is it too much (and too time consuming;))

got some of the first painting done on the legs, still need highlights and a lot more layers on the yellow parts, but wanted to show some progress.
Not sure on what I\'m going to do about the bodyarmour-trim-bit with the rivets, got quite a lot of metal parts already on the legs, arms and engine. Suggestions welcome.
And yes Kris I\'m running out of time:cussing:

Looks really nice so far. The yellow appears a tad thick, but I dont know what you could do about that now. The other shin looks absolutely great. Keep up the good work.

So finally got the legs done, took a bit more time than planned - but I somehow got sidetracked.
Quite happy with the way they turned out, specially proud of the drawings.
The yellow is more highlighted than shows in the pic.
Not going to do more about the base now, as most of it is going to be covered in snow later

Everything but the yellow looks really decent. I know you say the yellow is more highlighted than shows in the photo, but for me the problem isn\'t with the highlights. It is that the tone clashes with the feel of the rest of the model. It needs to be deeper and more orangey in it\'s shading. At the moment it has the tonality of an Easter chick, which isn\'t really right for a warmachine! This is the sort of tone I think would work better, with how the predominant colour is darker, and it doesn\'t reach the sort of lightness yours does until the edges.

Perhaps doing it with yellow and black hazard stripes would give more impact too.

Hmmm. I agree with lono about the yellow.. Not too sure what to do about it though... Maybe tone it down with a very thin black wash, brown could work as well. I like the metallics, they look real nice. I like the hanging parchment on the leg... I may steal that one.

easter chicken - easter chicken  - year OK a bit, I have to admit that ;). I don\'t think it looks that chickenish in real life, and I hope these pics show it a little better. It is a richer yellow than the first pics show, but not nowhere that ork Iono found - afraid I cant cook up anything in that league. Maybe it could be a little richer/warmer, and I have been thinking some orangy/brownish wash, but I\'m afraid I\'ll f... it up - and as said it\'s better IRL and I\'m quite happy with it.
The yellow is the same as the shoulder pads on my marines thats why I chose it, so I\'m not worried it will look out of place.

Did I mention there is only 4 days till I go to Egypth for a week to dive the Red Sea. :bouncy:

looks good, the freehand on the right leg looks especially good :) but I think it would be better if you highlighted the red dragon though :)

anyway, keep it up, I look forward to see it finnished :)

Got most of the work done on the arms, just a bit of highlighting and some runes to do.
Hope you like him as much as I do. :duh:
(and no I haven\'t got anything better to do on a saturday night)

yet another pic. Trying to get that wood finish on the head, it\'s not quite there yet but I think I\'ll get there.
Can\'t figure out wether to make the studs on the chin metal or leave them blu/grey and just highlight them.

edit: come on let me hear what you think - need some fresh input

It\'s still looking good. I like the wires next to the head and the lens on the left shoulder, but I think you should overall depth to the dread - how about some deeper shadows to the pelt (brown or 50-50 brown/dark grey ink, wash?) and a black wash around the rivets? IMO you should paint the rivets in the same style as your other metals such as the thighs, but make sure that you had plenty of shadow around their bases to make them really stand out.
The wooden head is not quite there yet IMO and I would suggest that you tried painting it with greater contrasts and maybe with obvious wood grain. I like the eyes, though.
And off topic: Enjoy your trip.

Just a little before going on holiday update. I added some more color to the pelt so it doesn\'t look all that white. I think the wood finish came out pretty good. I started decorating the body, so once I get back I think I\'ll get finshed pretty soon. See ya

Finally finished :D Took enought time, but I\'m really happy with the way it turned out. Think the colors work, and that the freehand stuff came out pretty much as I wanted.
So now he\'s ready to lead my first 40K army into battle.
Please vote and let me know what you think. Voting link

I agree. It may just be the photo though....

Just incredible work. I\'ve watched this one every step of the way -- it\'s quite inspiring and I think that you have created an excellent and very unique character dread.

Thanks a lot mrjustin.
I agree that the head look somewhat flat in the foto, but I think it\'s due to several layers of brown ink that gives it a bit glossy surface wich again show up unhighlighted in the pic.

Hope you guys will go and vote, it\'s going painfully slow ;)
