spam attack?

What a load of nonsense! Cant we just delete those sorts of topics? Its stuff like that that gives CMoN a bad name - no wonder we get slagged off everywhere else.

Its probably a spate of new postings from new members, but trust us when we say its all been discussed before. And at the end of the day posts like that cause more trouble than they are worth...

I am fully expecting all the \'freedom of speech\' responses and \'if you dont like it dont read it\' posts... i\'ve heard all of them before too... They should all be grouped together with the religion and politics topics (as for many people they rank about as highly) and banned!

heh. ah. The fun thing Peter is that this topic is very old as well. You\'re just contributing to the evergoing cycle of cmon threads.. and I tend to be more amused then annoyed.

I read most post I even answer some. Some are utterly silly, some are immature, some are brilliant. cmon won\'t be cmon without them, of that I\'m sure. There is most often allways something to talk about around here and cmon is very easy to frown at if you\'re in that mood. But I tend just to go with the flow.. and try to have a joyful journey.

The big difference between this thread and the GWbashing crap as that this is something we actively have control over. It is within our power to stop threads like that which cause people on other forums not to want to come here, and some of the regulars not to come back.

I think posts like that also helped Sturmhalo lose his mind and bog off too (that and Rev\'s special cigarettes)

So you\'re proposing stronger moderation of topics? I honestly don\'t. For the simple reason that I like diversity.. if I want peace and quiet I go to another forum. :)

Instead of voting with your feet or proposing more censorship I suggest you contribute with levelheaded and relevant threads. If you want people to stop posting silly or offending things, I think you should say so, like you\'ve done. There are certainly some threads I could be without. But to sound over-pretentious - There\'s a certain soul of cmon that I don\'t think needs to be changed.

hmmm...

The topic was closed, by me last night.
But while the thread was still being discussed, I pointed out that it was not a good idea.

I guess I don\'t know what I should do, as a moderator, curtail conversations, or just lead them back or topic, or heavy handedly chop things I don\'t agree with.???

All is fine and hail the mods

Avicienna, I agree last topic has gone too far a bit, I personnaly removed my posts from it.
But, if you get angry at stuff like that, it\'s sad for you, cause there will always be some. Heavier moderation would only take the life out of the forums, CMON is what it is because of it\'s openness and diversity. And the fact that moderators are considered friends by the frum population is a sign of appreciation.
I think the moderators are doing a good job, the forum are quite civilised considering the traffic and that CMON is a good place to be, considering all that.
That being said, there is too much people too all agree, or to be considered as a single group by external parties.
Please don\'t change anything.

I agree to a point... but its getting louder and more forceful these days with people using courser language and getting a damned sight more wound up by it all and to be honest i dont like it.

I am not proposing generalised heavy moderation, but more of a temporary pruning of stupid anti-GW threads. The one that really got me going was the naming of a gw member of staff and then accusing him of being a nazi!! That\'s slander and something i want nothing to do with.

I dont like having to defend my position as a member of the CMoN community to other people elsewhere.

Vike, you are doing a stirling job! And you were right to close it. Maybe it would have been better even sooner

Just like to point out: I was not volunteering! :D I just said that it would be a great spectacle. Then I went to bed. In the morning I read your quote supervike... I think that some guys hacking a charity\'s website is a bit different from some guys saying stuff to GW. It was a stupid idea though, I do know that

Dont get me wrong, I\'m not angry as such - its more a case of frustration. And to be honest, I have been wandering round on forums online for probably heading on 10 years and seen many forums die due to this sort of thing spiralling out of control...

I am fully aware of the life and soul of CMoN and know how it used to tick (been here since 2002) and the atmosphere already changed a lot and I am hoping it doesnt change much more...

Yes, and then a mass destruction of our accounts... not that that would matter. The GW forums are C R A P beyond belief.

100 users.
\"GW suck, we are angry with them x100\"
We all lose our \'posting privileges\'.
Now that would be quite a spectacle!

But the mods would take about a week to even check the forums

Volunteering? ???

So, little monkey is backing off, he?
lol;)

Whille in the current form, a plan based on spite an impulsion, can only cause more anger, I am strongly supporting those that are willing to take action, instead of just ranting the day long. In my country ( I mean Quebec), people only complain, and do nothing, and I\'m in general quite fed up with that state of things.
I\'ll leave it at that.

Warhammer was my dream game before I learnt that the direction turned into that, now I\'m quite disenchanted. I want my dream back. Mini painting is still a dream tho.

Pff.... I\'m cuter and furrier than the lot of you! :p

I agree with the green Canadian guy. Anyway, some GW stuff is actually very good value all things considered... I\'ll leave it at that. Drop the gauntlet and I will not pick it up

Nah, he did that to himself. He left because he hated virtually everyone on the forums, plain and simple. I kid you not!

And since when did I ever smoke funny fags? I can\'t stand herb. Makes me spin out all nasty like!

Otherwise there has certainly been a proliferation of excited new posters, but it\'s all cyclical. For what it\'s worth I do believe some people have got to get a grip on the shite they spout about GW and the minutiae they tend to criticise, but it\'ll pass. Youth is an exciting time, when the haunches are ablaze and the mind ripe for filling lol
