what you need is anything that will break the surface tention.
i use glaze medium by vallejo for this, others use future floor wax amongst other things.
you can get by without any additives but ,with using a hair dryer to speed things up, you are likely to get those horible tide marks.
make shure to clean your brushes thoroughly with using any techniques like this other wise they will die just as quickly as if you were drybrushing.
a liquid cleaner is ideal for this, a cheap way of getting the oils back into the brush after cleaning is to use hair conditioner.
