have you tried washing the mini it sounds like there might be some grease/mould relese(powder) left on the mini.other than that ??????

The can could be faulty - take it back to the shop and see if you can get a replacement. The guys in my shop just give me replacements if I ask, I hope your shop has nice people in it :D

I washed the mini yes. Its not the dusty look thats a problem, its that it won\'t cover properly. As it\'s for gd, and gw is quite some time away, i do not have time to go back. I am wondering if painting on watered down chaos black will be just as good?

Thanks for the replies and help.:)

You can paint on an undercoat of black. Only thing is to be a bit careful handling the mini as the paint isn\'t quite as hardwearing as the spray. But that wont be a problem once the first layers of paint are on.

And it sounds like you\'ve got a bad can of spray.

I had the same problem Two different cans of spray from the same store. One was lumpy one was smooth. Must just be a bad can of spray.

Sounds like the spray is at fault - switch to a car primer, much cheaper and tougher to boot and they are very reliable in my experience.

Your spraying technique has a lot to do with it as well, I find. If yo\'re too far away the paint droplets will dry partially in midair, causing the little \'dirt\' bits. The same thing happens if you try to just spritz the mini.

The proper way to spray is usually around 14 inches away (test first) .... start spraying the can to one side of the miniature, and pass it over. Do not stop spraying until you are PAST the miniature - there should be ample overspray on each side. It\'s not the most frugal way to use the spray, but it\'s definitely the smoothest.

Oh, almost forgot .... make sure that the miniature and the can are at about the same temperature when you spray, and leave it at the same temperature to dry. If you\'re going to spray in the garage, leave the stuff out there while it dries, and for ten minutes or so before you spray.

It sounds like the spray tip might be clogged and spraying globs instead of a fog. When you finish priming minis hold the can upside down and spray until no paint comes out to clean the tip. You might be able to replace the tip with a new/used one or try cleaning it with a needle.
