Your spraying technique has a lot to do with it as well, I find. If yo\'re too far away the paint droplets will dry partially in midair, causing the little \'dirt\' bits. The same thing happens if you try to just spritz the mini.
The proper way to spray is usually around 14 inches away (test first) .... start spraying the can to one side of the miniature, and pass it over. Do not stop spraying until you are PAST the miniature - there should be ample overspray on each side. It\'s not the most frugal way to use the spray, but it\'s definitely the smoothest.
Oh, almost forgot .... make sure that the miniature and the can are at about the same temperature when you spray, and leave it at the same temperature to dry. If you\'re going to spray in the garage, leave the stuff out there while it dries, and for ten minutes or so before you spray.
