The frog without doubt deserved a medal mate the paintjob is superlative. Also for me uncle John should have got higher than a bronze.

Well David was awarded a bronze for Uncle John, which I'm surprized at as I though it would do better.
But I'm gutted for him that the Frog rider didn't get anything when it so really really well done.

wow. I would say the frog is on of the best minis i have seen and even better than Uncle John.
Congrats on the bronze Sprocket!

UJ did come out amazing and I am floored that the frog didn't place, as it is the superior piece in my opinion. Though it does say a lot about the level of competition, as others have said. Good work and I hope you continue to build on your successes.

Holy cow, what could anyone possibly do to improve on the frog rider?! That piece certainly deserves some righteous hardware.

Can't say much that folks haven't already said, but damn. Really thought that frog rider would've placed. (Did they think it was a real frog and accuse you of cheating?) Hope a good time was had regardless!

Thanks guys! I can't pretend I'm not feeling gutted over how Uncle John & Squarg did at Euro but I guess that's the way the cookie crumbles. What saved the day for me was getting to meet up and socialise with so many painters and all round good guys! And I've come away from Euro with a modest but exciting stash of goodies so I've got some really interesting projects to look forward to. The best bit of all was seeing Andy win his gold I swear he was so happy he was floating a few inches off the floor!

I've decided that the best way to react is to pick myself up, dust myself down and get painting. So I'm just about to start a project with an insane timescale and really push myself. I'm not going to say too much about it because it's a tall order and there is a very high chance I'm not going to pull it off but if I do I'll have something to show around about the 12th Oct.

Oh man, that's rough. Sorry Sprockets. I was definitely inspired by Uncle John and the pallet write-up you did on your blog... With the frog rider you might have to start adding in blemishes so the judges can see it really is paint :)

So go on then, tell us the good stories. Who couln't hold their drinks in? Who started dancing the Macarena in front of the judges after two pints?

And that Ladies and Gentlemen is how to be a competitor!

Dave is someone who's painting I've respected for years and seeing the work he's done on the figures he's shared with us, I can honestly say that if he's going to "Push the Boat Out" it should rock us back on our heels.

When one falls, what to do? get up...

So get up, sit down in front of your paints and brushes, and paint something amaizing for thr 12th of october.

The downside of all this is that we will have to wait until October 12 to see a your project finished.

Many thanks,
Mariano.

As everyone else has said I cannot believe your work didn't place higher! Squarg is probably one of my favourite mini paintings of all time. Was it a case of judges personal tastes or technically better painted mini's. I really am curious because if you where beaten by something which was genuinely better painted then those must have been the Mona Lisa's of the miniature world and will be heralded as priceless works of art for the rest of time! Regardless I'm loving the positive attitude. Best way to be in these circumstances. My hat off to you sir you really are an inspiration.

I'm with everyone else. It's a big collection WTF from the CMoN community on those results. But when you combine an artistic field with competition sometimes this sort of thing happens. You've got the right attitude about the whole thing and I know all of us can't wait to see what you do next!

The fates have smiled upon me (sort of) and I had a day at home yesterday on account of a broken down water heater. That meant I had a whole day (apart from the time spent making cups of coffee for the engineer) to spend upon my 'insane timescale' project for GD 2014. I've made a really good start although the prospect of the work ahead is very daunting.

Today's one word clue about the subject of the project is ...

...tentacles

Or something with Japanese schoolgirls?

It's just possible that a tentacle porn diorama might not go down too well (with the judges) at Golden demon. Although I could try it from a Slanesh angle... but perhaps it's best not to go there!

Lee has it spot on. I'm going to paint the new Haemonculus. So new he isn't even out yet, but am I in a state of panic ... you bet I am.

It's the first GW mini I've seen for ages that I instantly wanted to paint when I first saw it. Hopefully that enthusiasm will help with motivation and keeping up the pace. I've just about built a base for it and I'm pulling together my thoughts for the paint job. I have a particular style that I like paint my Dark Eldar in but I also want to avoid doing a 'greatest hits' by just repeating what I did on the Scourge minis. That would be a boring and uncreative aproach.

I said Spiffing, not Spliffing...........behave you lot!

I must admit to being tempted by the Lhaemian(?), even if she is FoulCrust
