It's slowly becoming the Nurgle version of the portrait of Dorian Gray

The Plaguebearer champion is finished! Once the severed heads were painted it was a matter of adding the finishing touches to pull everything together. In addition to a little dripping green slime, I added some blood dripping from a few of the wounds.

I love the way you handle these nurgle figures. They seem to really bring out your creativity, as each of them is packed with clever and effective elements, often using techniques I now associate with your work. The microbeads, which I bought after I saw your Gutrot Spume figure on Legion of the Cow, are just one obvious example. I'd love to know exactly how you did those bug-eyes!

With great care - it's a fiddly job, apart from that there is no special secret! I found some good reference of iridescent insect eyes that helped give me the confidence to give it a go.

The most important thing by far was to pick compatible colours that would blend together well. The greens are both very yellow greens which made it a lot easier to blend into the orange. All the colours were applied as glazes and built up with dots and dabs very carefully to create the illusion of a smooth transition. Moving out from the center the colours are Mars orange (scale colour), Sherewood green (scale colour), Boreal green (scale colour) and finally Ice blue (GW)

I've had a productive weekend and made a good start on the bannerbearer's flesh. First I used glazes to build up the flesh tones and define the main colour and shade.
