i havent posted much since my last(and pretty much only model) but ive started on a new model a Tzeentch Daemon Prince

still in the conversion state of things which is taking awhile simply because ive never really sculpted before and ive done a lot of pinning/cutting/shaving and thinking :p

***what i thought was fully finished muscle joints, sadly i have to add a bit more to balance one of the muscles with the other side(it isnt in the right position slightly more forward on the front view which i dont have)

***the almost finished shot of the wrist+extra finger, i beefed up the finger a bit since then, the wrist stayed, it looks a little ruff but thats because of the light and the little paint chunks getting mixed in(because i had to strip the model  ) or little lines of darker green that appear to be unsmoothed joints but are really just streaks of colour(also annoying)

***This is where the helmet idea was devised: Tzeentchy Helmet once i fully attach the spikes to the helmet it will fan out a bit more, also after i do details it will look less plain lol

****these last two pics show the horrors bursting from his arm, i sculpted a bit of stretched skin, ive done more work on it since then and still need to do a bunch more to fill all the gaps and give a better feel to the bursting :D

the colour scheme is being awkward as this is also a commission for my friend and a competition entry i have to make it look just right(right now im working with midnight and enchanted blue...which is tough, but thats his scheme)

There\'s always pressure whe TBS is watching he\'s an impatient soul and will demand you to get on with it to feed his insatiable lust for miniature development Porn.....

looking good looking forward to seeing it progress..

Just a quick shot of the WIP sanctioned psyker i decided to practice on(as i havent painted many models) i tried a bit of wet blending(combined with layering) i think the camera took a pretty good pic(only bottom half is done) its a bit brighter in person

The demon prince is very interesting. Some very good ideas. I would have thought Slanesh tho would have more of a Mohawk helmut think happening.

The phsyker cloak looks good. Coming along nicely. And dont worry about TBS he\'s full of wind lol

hahaha if anything TBS will motivate me to do things(or push me violently)
:D

the robe faded a ton as i expected so i will need to do about 3798379874980573560 more layers hahahah ohhhh man, it was supposed to be quick....

ok, so i re-highligted a bunch because it faded, but my problem still lies, it doesnt show up under average day to day crappy lighting (i use a fluorescent light) i dont see why it isnt, im already half way up to camo green from catachan!!(on the new pic ive actually gone a bit brighter its now closer to camo as you will clearly see in the photo...) im going to work on other things to see if they bring the shades out more before i go back and re-highlight ...again...

i donno what to do....

i did all that time consuming blending and got the exact colour i wanted but it doesnt show in normal light to anywhere near the extent and basicly id have to reblend the entire thing somehow brighter

do i just over highlight it a lot? like this is driving me nuts, i mean its not just my eyes, the photo proves it

i dont get it thought, camo green is clearly brighter even dulled down and yet it barely shows up, same thing wiith ultras over regal

i put it under my \"true light\" light and it shows up, but its not very noticeable

....i guess ill just reblend...again.....

The telepath looks fine as it is, since highpoints on a cloak of gradual and not sudden, the transition from light to dark musnt have a high contrast. He looks great to me.

whoops i might of confused you, the photos show it under my light, the way i see it, but when i take it out anywhere else and look at it, either my vision sucks outside of my lamp, or it just doesnt show up nearly as much, and looks like ive put far less effort in

i tried darkening the shadows it helped a bit i think, i cant go darker or it will be brown, so i think ill add more highlights to brighten up the \"light\" spots more, i think that SHOULD work

then i need to figure out how to do the rest of the model hahahah

what would you guys suggest on doing This on the staff, black to purple same colours, purple being near the top where the eagle is, and then adding a purple hue to the NMM gold?

sorry im a bit slow on the updates because i had to clean a bunch of forgeworld and clean/prime a bunch of models and i had a friend i havent seen in awhile visit :)

if you ever get offered an army commission where you have to strip old models, SAY NO, its awful...and adds ridiculous amounts of time to the job, especially when they were done by a 12yr old *cringes*

anyways i foresee more updates tommorow, or thursday

ok so i started doing the NMM on the staff right now im about 3/4 done, i just need it with a bit more yellow i think....im pretty sure the light is in the right spot, of course im not sure how to do the other side yet since very little light would hit that side(thats always my problem with nmm is how do i get it to look metallic when so little light(if any) is hitting it? just blend it but very dark?

(oh the gold is a bit darker with a bit more contrast in person...i need a better camera

HPIM1423.jpg

++++ok finished the gold on the front, i reblended it all to make it brighter as i always have a hard time blending things properly(area wise) the first time.... so here it is

HPIM1430.jpg

and from a bit of a distance: Here

its hard to see the sash and the belt, they are both done(the frillies on the end of the sash are not however, unsure what colour as of yet)

i know everyone wants the updates on the DP, i will do some this afternoon try and get it ready to prime and then practice on this model more, and then go to town on the DP :D

(im sure people are getting annoyed with my 32479 posts in a row but its not MY fault no ones commenting :p)

All thats left now is the head, just need to add some more details...oh and i need to figure out/decide what to do with the shoudler pads but they can be done later anyways so...

HPIM1439.jpg

++++edit...anyways i covered up the vents made the helmet wider, added the details to the blades and made the eye slit a tad bit bigger...the more freespace on the helmet will let me sculpt the flame details on it or just freehand...im unsure of what to do with the top part of the head right now, add the eye gem?

HPIM1448.jpg

****tried my hand at a darker nmm silver, and well it looks ok, but it was a complete PAIN to do, the staff is nowhere near round which keep screwing up my blending(which i will admit is not the best because of this) i added a purple tint to the gold and i must say i LOVE IT, the staff will get This effect as I really do think it would look good

HPIM1446.jpg

HPIM1445.jpg

so what ive started doing with my blending on this mini is trying to add different colours to the shades like purple to gold, brown to green, blue to brown(belt) and brown to grey for the silver just to see what kind of effect i get out of it

i love using browns and this model shows it more than any model, if i had taken a picture of what it started like, i might as well of based it scorched brown first as pretty much everything was based brown to start

also tried wet blending and i must say its not that difficult to do, i didnt even have trouble gettin smooth blends(note i didnt use it on everything, just in some places as a test)

and finally, i need another highlight on the upper body jacket as light hits it first and it should be brighter

comments critique(positive negative) whatever youw ish is appreciated and thanks
