++++mostly a status update

so what have i been up to?

not much....

only based about 155 models so far this week, another 61ish to go(i might have done more since)

theres a mix of guardsmen, sisters, and crimson fists in there

....

not sure if its done yet, i really like it, but i might need a bit more brighteness

it might be a bit brighter/darker, but this is a pretty good picture, i think im doing pretty good with this one :)

++++ annnnd finally what im going to be up to:

-whole lotta fantasy models(skaven to start, then empire) im planning for ebay(to unload my old minis that dont see use and get in practice for games day)

-trying to finish the DP who ill enter at games day(for a fun extra entry, i dont expect anything from him :p)

-doing some minor army work

i hope the skaven im working on turns out, i need to figure out how to do proper weathering though, thats something i cant figure out yet...i might have an idea though

Heres the new skaven model in progress, pretty good pictures, captures most of the colour, brown isnt done the white is still showing through a bunch because i havent layered there much yet

im still unsure what to do to the skin, i cant decide if its done yet or not, and if not what else to do (that would be his face, the rest i have only done minor shading to)

***it seemed like the most suitable thing i had at the time... its super sculpey, handy before i started pinning the models to paint, decided it was about time to do that so...it will go back into the box and await my dragon sculpt to continue

anyways...

++++another skaven, had trouble with the brown on the front because i screwed up and covered all my white too thickly(brush slipped...) but i think i managed to recover, i added more purple hue to thr front to match the back, shaded a bit darker in some places to add just a touch more contrast(the front doesnt show well in the photo, the back does)

thanks for the comments :) (ps if you ever have anything that could be considered negative dont be scared i like negatives, it means i can figure out what to improve next easier)

just an update on the skaven, tried some new stuff, NMM worn armour and some rust effects-->note the bolted on cross piece on the top of the helmet(the browny colour) is not done, its just one layer to get rid of the white

I really need to work on my blending with this technique im using to paint...then again it could just be that my \"true light\" just shows me far too much :p

Thanks~ i found out a bunch more of what ive been doing wrong, and i tried some new stuff on the skaven and figured out how to do it better already

sorry i couldnt get good pics of the NMM, either too close or not a good angle(reflections from actual light ruin it etc) all colours so far have a brownish tone to them, and it will continue to stay that way :p

second attempt at woodgrain,. know what i did wrong, and i know how to do it better next time

almost done, just the metal parts of the gun left, toe nails and finger nails and his pouches/scroll, then of course his pet and the base :)....oh and i need to do something with the black dot that landed on my shell casing...

I\'ll know for next time that I should go brighter on the top, im not going to worry about it on this guy, did some shading, i think i did it well, whatcha think?...i think i need more depth in my shades, and to improve my medium shades

i think it will br brighter and more obvious once i get more colour on, the white is kinda stealing from it i think...we\'ll see

they are skaven models from warhammer fantasy

one with gun is a champion from a command pack for clanrats, not sure if they still sell that blister, i dont think they do

one with whip is a packmaster(still available actually i think...)

the other sickly looking one(i think i posted him here) is a plague monk(older one)

well the gun rat got chipped and i had to strip and redo him sadly...its what i get for transporting an almost finished mini poorly...

anyways:

heres some pics of that daemon prince that is...still not done..., i ended up going out last night so i didnt get the skin blended

the brighter blue should help make him look less like a night lord as well

anyways back to work, might do a bit on him today, i have other models i gotta do though

im debating adding some purple tints to the armour in places to give it a more tzeentch feel, thoughts?

Figured some people wanted to see more farseer so...

Just some more work done on the farseer, the orange on the face thats hard to see is a freehand rune, it will show up better once the eyes are done and the purple shaded

the light blue was tinted teal-ish and the white armour blended, i also did the white trim on the sash

im debating what colour to do the runes on the white trim by the orange and the one on the sash

purple and teal would work for the sash, and teal by the orange i think, im also planning freehand on his back, im unsure if i should go with teal or orange...or both

just a couple shots of the dwarf, got him pinned and GSed together just did a layer of flocking, still need to carve the base a bit more(made of clay)

the metal piece hes standing on is from eithe ludwigs box or kurt hellborgs

this is for the unofficial warseer painting comp, but more importantly my cousins birthday(which is april 10th) the comp just gives me an excuse for a harder deadline :p

This was initially for the warseer comp, but I doubt Ill get it done in time, its a present for my cousin for his birthday

just some shots of the dwarf in progress, i think i might finally understand how to use white primer properly, i just need to base with a brighter shade next time, i also think i need more layers and less water on the brush(i was doing runny washes cuz im lazy...)

im not sure what to do with the skin now, would i slowly mix darker by adding some more purple or maybe blue and purple?

the axes are slightly out of focus in the pictures I apologise, they look a bit betetr in person, my blending still isnt super smooth yet

i added in some blue mixes to darken shadows further on the mohawk

OH and ignore the base, its going to be black, i was thinking ivory, then changed my mind
