Ok, here\'s what happened. My son was on my computer when I got home last night. He said he was just on Gaia but he turned the thing of pretty fast when I walked in BY PUSHING AND HOLDING THE BUTTON!
Now I don\'t get any response from my logitec keyboard (the ones with all the buttons and stuff) and the message says that the computer was shutdown wrong and some of the files might be corrupted and to select an option.
Because the keyboard isn\'t responding I can\'t choose and option or hit the f12 or anything. I think if it was hooked to another computer we might be able to get it to boot up[ and then it could go through an auto-repair of somekind but I have no idea how to do that and Mr C can\'t see well enough so I don\'t trust him not to screw it up worse.
Anyone got any ideas? Suggestions? Something to help with the withdrawls? I have to have it fixed by Moday or I can\'t get my Ebay comp entry posted in time!
#1: GaiaOnline.com is jsut a big virus. Not a computer one, but real world one. It is infecting children that should be outside playing rather than playing messed up flash games so Lanzer can get rich off kids from the $5 monthly \"Thank you letter\" donations.
#more:
do you have another keyboard you can just switch with it to check to see if you can use it? if geting behind to unplug is no good, how about a USB keyboard from like a PS2 or PS3 of XBOX?
any USB keyboard should work.
take a hair dryer. set it to low heat and fast air. blow the keyboard while turned upside down.
depending on how hard the on/off/shutdown button was held it may have broke, but since it comes on i doubt that to be the error.
is there a disk in a CD or DVD drive or floppy drive?
take them out and try to boot. sometiems windows doesn\'t like having \"things\" stuck in it during a restart from a \"bad shutdown\"
is there any light at all on the keyboard when the computer tries to start? Num, CAPS, or scroll lock indicators? if so then it is getting power to the keyboard so hopefully no broke connections.
??? you have kid(s). you learn something new each day.
does it makes any strange sounds when you try to turn it on? not strange like Britney Spears trying to sing, but strange like Woody Allen trying to sing.
Any high pitched humming or clunking?
Is it a PC or a Mac?
try holding down F8 when you turn on the power button to the computer. might not work, but if the keyboard is getting and sending ANY signal when it first comes on, it might tick off windows that you are holding a keydown and give you a keyboard overflow beep sound. the annoying thing when you hold a key down froever. this means the keyboard is working at boot up. Also F8 is the select menu for windows to choose which method to start the computer.
Normal
Safe Mode
etc
it if gets that signal then it may just work when the 30 seconds have expired and try to go into windows normally or the repair mode normally and even solve the keyboard issue.
these are jsut a few ideas for hecking boot up problems without actually having hands on to see what all is going on.
hope something helps.
