Is it ok for newbies here to post articles they\'d like to see done? If so, put \'em in here and maybe a more advanced modeler will show us how it\'s done!

1. Painting glass bottles. How in the world do you do that? I\'m thinking bottles like what you\'d find on the belt of a Space Marine Apothecary, but any article on this would be a BIG help!

2. Making an 1/8 inch thick piece of plexi-glass look like a crystal sword. I\'m making a special mini with a Space Wolf\'s Frost Blade and don\'t want to just do a classic chainsword, so i\'m trying (without success) to make it out of 1/8\" plexi-glass to make it look like a crystal sword.

THANKS!

You could also try to paint a sword to make it look like crystal...

Maybe...?

A nice big article on how to paint armies for us budding commission painters who havent cracked the bigtime ebay starpainter set yet. All the ins and outs tips and hints on how to paint as many models as possible in the shortest possible time with the least loss of quality possible. If possible. :)

That one\'s easy! Just give up on having a social life, stop eating and instead of sleeping, drink about 4 cans of Red Bull each day..... ;)

Yeah, that looks great in pictures, but if you look at it from more than one angle the whole illussion\'s lost. Hence the plexi-glass.:)

Oh Happy Days!

Reminds me of my student days. Apart from the giving up of social life. And the redbull. And I did sleep a lot. In the day not night. So apart from the not eating bit its not that much like my student days at all. Sounds like hard work to me and that certainly has nothing to do with my student days :)

Sounds like a friends recipe for managing with her kids.......lol

After talking to a couple of people who had entered local GW comps in May I\'m working on an article about what judges may be looking for in a mini.

Would anyone find this of interest?

Yes, as a matter of fact, I would. I think I read something like this on Rajin Gaijin or whatever, and I liked it a lot. It\'d be cool if ya did! :)

It\'s an acquired taste...

I can\'t believe anyone liked RedBull on their first taste. Just as no one liked their first taste of whisky, or their first beer. Lets face it, initial sexual encounters are generally best forgotten too.

I am afraid all the best things in life have to be worked at....;)

p.s. I only drink it when it has a good measure of Captain Morgan (rum) added to give it a little more \'body\'.:flip:

Hm. I don`t like beer, neither do I like whisky or beer. I don\'t like the taste, so why should I drink it again and again hoping that somewhen I\'ll like it? Many people have told me what you said, and I have never fully understood the logic....

That means more beer and whisky for the rest of us:flip::flip:

No point in persevering if you don\'t like the stuff;)

Nice try, but I think it doesn\'t look very convincing at this scale (that\'s why I\'d try to paint a crystal sword).

And how are you going to protect this blade against the spray on primer? :)

Good job!!!!!

Good job!!!!!

I would suggest a brush-on primer such as Folk Art Glass & Tile Medium. Love this stuff!! It\'s clear, but can be tinted, can be thinned down to a smooth consistency and makes a wonderful primer coat. The tinting actually helps to bring some definition to the figure and sort of gives you some predefined shading.

As for the conversion, it looks quite nice. Good luck with finishing it.
