I was talking to someone earlier about how big LA alone is. You can do maybe 3-4 things right down town but after that you have to take a car to everything. Not at all like London or even San Francisco or Chicago. All of those places it\'s fairly easy to get from point A to point B. LA is Miles wide and we\'re just now getting some mass transit that can sort of get you around. The MTA is still pretty general though. It will get you within a mile of where you want to go usually but you have to hoof it from there because the bus system is a complete nightmare.

Ditto with Dallas. Now if I was back home in DC then I\'d probably just find myself working in the district and taking the metro in every day.

Well, I had a better night\'s sleep and feel more rested, but I still need to take it easy.
Yep Petrol hit the £5.00 per gallon cost around ours about 4 weeks ago.
I\'ve worked it out; Before Road Fund Duty (Tax), Insurance and Mersey Tunnel Fees I\'m paying £300 per month for the priviledge of Going to Work. That\'s with the fact I have an economical car and only work 4 days a week now.
Personally I\'d now consider Public Transport, but it\'s such a mess that in order to get to where I work I\'d have to leave my house at 5:30 in order to catch 3 trains to get me in at 09:30. (Currently I leave @ 06:15 and arrived @ 07:15).
As for our Govt taking notice, forget it. It\'s blatently obvious that they\'ve lost the next election.......and guess, what the next Govt won\'t change things either.

My biggest expense is towing the boat over to the coast. I\'ll burn about 10-15 gallons in the Vue and about 6 in the boat. So for less than $100, I can have a full day of fun. Less if I take someone and they pick up part of the gas.
All in all, that is not bad for a day of blood pressure reduction. About the same as a day of golf or a dinner & a movie. Much less than a day at one of our local theme parks (even if I get in free, it still costs a fortune to eat there and we HAVE to get suveniers lol )
The offshore guys are the ones feeling the gas hit. Twin 250\'s can suck some fuel getting 20 miles out, then \"troll\" all day at 20 knots, then come home. Used to be a $100 day. Now it is like 4 put in a Benjy each to get the owner to take you out.

Around 3 months. I guess my arthritis is worse than I thought. The Dr. said I have advanced ostioarthritis with some bone loss in my left knee. Basically I\'m rubbing bone one bone and it\'s wearing down. I will have to get my knees replaced soon but this will allow me time to lose some weight before that. Oh, and I\'ve lost 10 pounds in the last month! It\'s been a pretty good day.
