So Roger is 45 mins into an 11 hour flight. I'm back home and just now feeling the emptiness of the apartment. At least I have the guinea pigs for company. -sigh-

Seeing as how my fiancee is:

A, about 9 hours away, timezone-wise, and 4500 miles/7300 klicks, distance-wise.
B. In the hospital.

I think I can say I know how you feel. I offer Zen-hugs for hopefully some feel-better.

Guinea pig are great for company they always make a noise when they see you, only down side they tend to poo on you when you hold them for long.
You have a date to look forward to try breaking it down into weeks or I like working get ups:cute: I have 20 working get ups till my next holiday. Most of all remember you have the love of a good man (he is good isn't he not a mobster or somthing sinister).

Couple of things to remember liz - (I speak here from experience - the wife is 7500 or so miles away atm) -

Web cams are great. Try to email or see each other at least once a day.

The separation will pass. That's the payoff.

DB2 - Sorry to hear about your fiancee - hope things get better with her.

Well, as we used to say when I was working as a morticians assistant - Any day above ground is a good day.

And after 4 years of my life in a combat zone I believe that is true.

Marketing Translations
> -------------------------
>
> Cracking an international market is a goal of most growing corporations. It shouldn't be that hard, yet even the big multi-nationals run into trouble because of language and cultural differences. For example, observe the following examples below.
>
> The name Coca-Cola in China was first rendered as Ke-kou-ke-la. Unfortunately, the Coke company did not discover until after thousands of signs had been printed that the phrase means "bite the wax tadpole" or "female horse stuffed with wax" depending on the dialect. Coke then researched 40,000 Chinese characters and found a close phonetic equivalent, "ko-kou-ko-le," which can be loosely translated as "happiness in the mouth."
>
> In Taiwan, the translation of the Pepsi slogan "Come alive with the Pepsi Generation" came out as "Pepsi will bring your ancestors back from the dead."
>
> Also in Chinese, the Kentucky Fried Chicken slogan "finger-lickin' good" came out as "eat your fingers off."
>
> The American slogan for Salem cigarettes, "Salem - Feeling Free," got translated in the Japanese market into "When smoking Salem, you feel so refreshed that your mind seems to be free and empty."
>
> When General Motors introduced the Chevy Nova in South America, it was apparently unaware that "no va" means "it won't go." After the company figured out why it wasn't selling any cars, it renamed the car in its Spanish markets to the Caribe.
>
> When Parker Pen marketed a ballpoint pen in Mexico, its ads were supposed to say "It won't leak in your pocket and embarrass you." However, the company mistakenly thought the spanish word "embarazar" meant embarrass. Instead the ads said that "It wont leak in your pocket and make you pregnant."
>
> An American t-shirt maker in Miami printed shirts for the spanish market which promoted the Pope's visit. Instead of the desired "I Saw the Pope" in Spanish, the shirts proclaimed "I Saw the Potato."
>
> Colgate introduced a toothpaste in France called Cue, the name of a notorious porno magazine.
>
> In Italy, a campaign for Schweppes Tonic Water translated the name into Schweppes Toilet Water.

What's this: The bar is still in one piece? What a surprise!

I've seen potatoes too. Why put that on a t-shirt? It made me laugh though.

Didn't know that Pepsi had something to do with necromancy...

Coffin Dodger / Keymaster
Older women are so understanding:

After being married for 25 years, I took a careful look at my wife one day and said, "Twenty five years ago we had a cheap apartment, a cheap car, slept on a sofa bed and watched a 10-inch black and white tv, but I got to sleep every night with a hot 25 year-old girl".

Now I have a $500,000.00 home, a $35,000.00 car, nice big bed and plasma screen tv, but I'm sleeping with a 50 year-old woman. It seems to me that you're not holding up your side of things.'

My wife is a very reasonable woman. She told me to go out and find a hot 25 year-old girl and she would make sure that I would once again be living in a cheap apartment, driving a cheap car, sleeping on a sofa bed and watching a 10-inch black and white tv.

Aren't older women great? They really know how to solve your mid-life crises
