No its not a reef the reef is around the other side of teh island this is deffinately a rock
Ok, now it\'s my turn to be confuzored... I just wanted to say \"récif\", and I thought the english word for it was \"reef\". From my faithful aide dictionary.com : reef = A strip or ridge of rocks, sand, or coral that rises to or near the surface of a body of water.
So, like, why doesn\'t this qualify as a reef ???

Because it\'s not a \'strip or ridge\'?

To my mind a reef is long and thin.....

That thing\'s just a rock;)

Curse you, English language ! Why can\'t you be as understandable, straightforward and easy as French ? lol

So, how long exactly does a rock have to be to become a ridge ? :D

I am not sure if their is a definitive length. When does a hill become a mountain, or a pond turn into a lake...???

This is getting very philosophical..:flip:

The English language is infuriating. I say this as an English teacher....

It propagates however, by being open ended...

New word..? Fine... just add it to the English vocabulary...

Other languages are much easier to learn/teach but most of them seemed to have closed their doors some years ago. \'Computer\' is \'computer\' in most languages.....

The biggest problem with English is that words don\'t always mean what they say....There is a lot of emphasis on the non verbal content, inflection, tone etc which is easily missed by the non-native speaker.

eg \"I like your dress\" Can mean the opposite of, \"I like your dress\". It depends upon the context and how you say it.....

The fact that English has Latin grammar rules applied to it doesn\'t help either. How daft is that? Ooh, we\'ve got a language based on Old Saxon (Germanic) with large a Norman (French) vocabulary, but we\'ll use Latin grammar.

Don\'t split infinitives, never end a sentence in a preposition as Churchill said \"This is the type of English, up with which I will not put\".

Still don\'t see the need for gender in language though, I can never remember which object is \"le\" and which is \"la\".

Good point...

I think that good old \'Gee Dublya\' has surpassed Churchill in his crucifiction of the English language however:flip:

The only good thing about English...is that the rules can be broken...

Its a \'living\' language as opposed to a dead one.....

Doesn\'t make it any easier to learn however:D

I wish we had large quantities of Bees instead of the bugs we actually get, up here in Northern Alberta, Canada.

These beetles usually only come out for a month and a half of the summer but when they do, they come out by the millions, you can barely go outside without running into a dozen of them. They also bite amazingly well.

There are also bugs about the size of Cockroaches, that usually only come out at night and are highly atracted to Light colors and the like. They for the most part can usually only be found out at the plants (Oil Sands).
