According to the AFI.. Citizen Kane is the best movie ever.

I wanted to start a thread on this exact topic.. But I knew alot of people would list tons of junk so I opted out.

Hunt for Red October is probably still my favourite film of all time even though the DVD I have of it misses the subtitles of my favourite line, the bit where the Dallas surfaces and the Russian sailor in the dinghy shouts \"the captain scared them out of the water\" in Russian.

Closely followed by the Blues Brothers, great acting, better sound track and tons of over the top silliness. Fantastic.

Plotwise I really liked a film called Circus, so called because the double crossing goes round and round and round and you never quite know who\'s coming out on top until right at the end. If you haven\'t seen it give it a go but make sure you\'re paying attention. Brian Conley (It\'s a puppet!) is a surprisingly good actor, there\'s also a naked Eddie Izzrd in it

My favourite for dialogue is probably Lion in Winter the pace is a bit slow but it\'s just so well written and the acting carries it off perfectly. Probably the best nightmare, medieval family Christmas you\'ll ever see.

Without doubt my fave movie of all time is \"The Crow\". Just awesome.
Dude, do yourself a favor and find the graphic novel. The movie was shite compared to the pure anger, depression, insanity and violence that seemed to bleed off those pages.
Hollywood got it completely wrong.

Princess Bride no doubt is a classic and I can watch that movie over and over and over again. Heck, I even picked up the book recently. Just haven\'t been doing a lot of reading recently.

Anyway, I am also a fan of LOTR and have watched those movies too many times to count. Pirates of the Carribean 1 would also make my favorites list. I liked it the best out of the three. The other two I enjoyed just not as much.

Strangely enough the first lotr would be right up there with any other movie in my opinion (3 hours long and I still saw it 6 times at the theater!)

BUT number 2 is average IMO and number 3 is an absolute disgrace.

Friar

Dorks for Orks
Ghost in the Shell (I love the 2 SAC series as well as the other 2 movies)
Goonies
The original Star Wars Trilogy
Ghostbusters
Die Hard (all) for when I just want over the top action and a ruff balding average joe hero
Princess Bride is just greatness
Neverending Story loved it since I was a lil kid
Full Metal Jacket no movie has more great lines

and many more I like alot more movies then I think are just down right horrible.

@ Spazzy Killer Clowns from Outerspace was a hoot lol

Edit: had to add Princess Mononoke, SPirited Away, My Nieghbor Totoro and Howl\'s Moving Castle anything by Hayao Miyazaki is pure Magic
