I\'d like to see a different version of this, judging cities on character and style and that certain \'something\' rather than life expectancy and cash. That\'d be far better. REAL places...

Saying that, some of the cities there (Vancouver, Amsterdam, Oslo, Stockholm, Copenhagen, etc...) would probably appear on either list. Dublin would for sure, but only every two years when Wales takes the place over for the rugby. Hoot hoot! lol

Even without this list being based solely on life expectancy and cash I agree up to a point, but it would be soooo subjective - kinda like the Channel 4 top-100 films lists (although they\'d be hard to top)!

Dublin is on this list? FFS! Since it\'s supposed to factor in quality of living, personal safety & effectiveness of law enforcement I\'m going to have to go with Spacemunkie\'s assessment: what a load of bollocks!

I\'m pretty sure they don\'t make the list based on how the places look. It\'s the living standard or something, how wealthy the country is and how good there welfare system and hospitales are. Norway, where I live, is in the top ten almost every year.. But that list might be based on something else than the list you guys are refering to..

Same as above. Been to many lovely cities (love London) but, as said above, there\'s just something about SF that can\'t really be explained unless you have been there and had time to really check it out.

I guess the appeal is that there AREN\'T really any big cities there, though.

I love San Fransisco, although Monterey has the edge for me (it\'s a whale thing). Went there on my honey-moon, after getting married in Vegas (yep, Elvis did it ).

I\'ve lived in all the Australian cities listed, they are all good. Melbourne has a better \'vibe\', Sydney is edging into pretentious, Perth is one of my favourite places in the world (W.A in general).

What amazes me is the number of Germanic cities in there. There\'s a major swing towards central Europe & Scandinavia (I know Scandinavia isn\'t Germanic before anyone starts). Interesting...

My town, Storrs Connecticut, (University of Connecticut is here) has been said many times on various lists to be the safest place in the US. In terms of the best place to live, I would have to agree that Scotland and Norway are pretty awesome.

I wish to one day see more of the world but I really do love home sweet home here in Western Canada. I can\'t say it\'s so much the land, or taxes or anything like that. For me, it\'s the people.

I don\'t have the experience of living any place other than Western Canada but a few of my more worldly friends have said that the best thing about this part of the world is we\'ve perfected the art of just hangin\' out. It doesn\'t take a great event, a concert or something to get a bunch of buddies together on a deck or just around the house and shoot the breeze.

My one buddy who had live in England, Eastern Canada, Ireland, and I think Asia, said he found everywhere he went it seemed that friends usually had to meet someplace, go do something. Nothing wrong with that, but sometimes it\'s decent to just flop down on a couch in a room with some buddies and tell lies to each other for an evening. The same friend sort of likened our part of the worlds philosophy to the Hobbits in the begining of the Fellowship of the Ring.

So that\'s what I love about home. I sincerely hope to visit more of the world but I know that Saskatoon will always be home.

Go to The Warsmith in East Hartford. It\'s a new store that was started by the manager of the GW in Manchester after they closed. It\'s pretty awesome.
